I just use a wide gap mustad worm hook, I see no point in changing hooks

Do you have a better catch to hook-up ratio with a wide gap for the T-Rig?

I like to think so, but have never tried to compare, like most things fishing they 'look' better

A Gammy finesse EWG or a Gammy weedless finesse EWG around cover.

IMO the 4/0 EWG is too bulky and heavy, and shows too much for clear water

'Katsu WEEDLESS Finesse at ALL times. 1/0 for 4" Tiki and YUM. 2/0 for 4" Senkp (fatter body) and 5-6" types.
Why the WEEDLESS at all times? Answer: You never know for certain what's down there and why have to change once you learn the hard way what IS down there. I also use WEEDLESS Finesse for ALL dropshot. That fish in the latest Canyon Lake report (by Rebbasser) didn't seem to mind. Keeping the weedguard aligned and properly tensioned takes some practice, and readjusting it after a fight can be a pain. Still, that beats a lost hook or chasing fish off cover in an attempt to save it, not to mention time lost. The Gamakatsu WEEDLESS Finesse isn't foolproof; no hook is. But it comes closer than any other I've tried over many, many years. BTW, are you the artist formerly known as SENKO77 on another site? If so, how're you and your family doing? FR. |
