Default Hypothetical Question........Would you......

Let's say there was this crystal clear river about 2 miles from your house. Fishing has been banned in this crystal clear river for the last 50 years. It's not uncommon for anybody to spot a lunker bass in the depths of the river. Now let's say that the bill that makes it illegal to fish expired at the end of 2008 and congress didn't get to renew the bill untill 2009 when they come back from their holiday vacation. So technically the Wildlife Officers couldn't write you a ticket until congress came back and signed the bill into law. Would you go down there with shiners and catch 2 lunkers, 15 bass, 2 mudfish over 10 pounds, and even catch a bass on a bare hook and not believe it if you didn't see it with your own 2 eyes? I'm just curious, yeah that's it.

I know I did........I mean, I know I sure would

even though the poor bass don't know any better? and in a spring fed river with temps at a constant 72 (spawning temps), and right before the full moon? its not uncommon for these fish to spawn 4-5 times a year. you would fish it?

yeah I'd fish it, and I'd release every single fish I caught along with taking pictures of the lunkers.

#&^%$^ yeah I would.

Look at it like this. The only reason people havent been fishing it is because it was against the law.

Now it is not.

You can argue all day long that congress will get around to it, you can even try and contrive such a notion as a spirit of the law and assume that this is against the spirit - but thats an abstraction, wheras 15 pound bass are not.

Have fun!

my dad caught that bass on a shiner who made the mistake of swimming under that large mat you see in the picture.

when I caught mine, I watched a buck bass chase my shiner under a mat, about 10 seconds later my shiner comes swimming back out with a big shadow following closly behind. she grabbed the shiner, put it in her lips and shook her head. all you could see in the crystal clear waters was the sparkle coming from thousands of shiner scales. After she scaled him I saw her swallow it, I set the hook, got her 20 feets towards the boat before she came unbuttoned. Since I could see everything and since I still had the shiner on the hook, I just let it set there, 5 seconds later she grabbed the shiner again, I hooked up with her again and finally landed her.

Nice fish.
As far as your question, I see it as this.
You are asking if I would do something that was once against the law but currently is not. I think that is the most simple way to state it, and the answer is yes.

yeah, that bass had a real nice pattern on it. most bass typically have a fairly straight black stripe, this one was broken up a little bit making it look somewhat unique. I'll post a few more up later today or tomorrow sometime.
