Default What you want to Try

Being cabin fever season and all, we've been talking about rods and reels a lot lately. With all the suggestions, I've been really eager to try a lot of stuff.

So. what brand of reels and rods do you want to try that you've never owned before.?
I've fished with a few of these, but never owned them.

Rods:
Falcon
Kistler
Daiwa
and now maybe All Star.

Reels:
Shimano
Abu Garcia (I have my revo, I just can't use it yet...)

I'm "reel" interested in the US Reels Supercaster Pro. I was supposedly one of the first to put my order in and haven't recieved it yet. US reels said they would be released begining of Jan. Keeping my fingers crossed that it comes today.

I want some input on a carrot stix. More specifically the sensitivity of it, Im looking for a good worm/ jig rod that I can put some 12 lb floro on. I've had my eye on the carrot but am afraid to go for it without some reviews

Doc I havent gotten any fish with my Carrot stix yet but I have only got use it twice and both times were comming off a cold front and fishing a poor lake, but man the feel was awesome using a texas rig. I cant wait to feel a bite on it. Plus it is super light it feels great in your hands.

I would like to try Daiwa´s Zillion rods but ...... what for ? , with a bunch of GLoomis IMXs the only thing of the Zillion rods that catches my eye is the handle.

My buddy swears by them. He has one for his finesse/weightless senko rod. I've tossed it a couple of times and it's definitely VERY sensitive.

I want to try one of the Steez rods and reels, just so I can see what makes the combo cost almost $1000. I would NEVER buy them, but I wouldn't mind borrowing a friends for a day. And, I wanna get into using handmade balsa cranks, like Tapps, and On The Line cranks.

I can't wait to try some of the stuff I have picked up this winter like a custom rod made on a Loomis GLX blank with spiral wrapped guides. They are supposed to be the hot ticket, increasing casting distance and sensitivity. The only rod I don't have that I would really like to try is the new Falcon Expert, it looks great but I don't know when they will be available even though they were shown at iCAST last year.
I got a couple other rods recently too and would like to try that Abu Garcia Soron reel. I would like to find a spinning reel that is light but not too expensive.

Doc, I have one of the original Carrot Sticks. I like it and have caught several fish on it. However, I do have one complaint. The guides are some type of metallic material and are not super smooth like most. Although my stick will effectively cast and pitch tubes, I often wonder if I would get just a little more distance if the rod had different guides.

I got my hands on some high-end gear this winter and I now own my first "Enthusiast Tackle" set-up. The rod is a Jackall crankbait stick and the reel is a Daiwa Ito 2003. I don't know if I should string it up or let it sit pretty in my rod rack.

Meanwhile, as I ponder the above "issue", I am also looking forward to trying out my new low gear ratio Daiwa Crazy Cranker reel.

I'd also love to get one of the megabass asylum tackleboxes for all my crankbaits. But I'd never pay $350 for a box.

Doc, I read a review on that box. One of the concerns was that the individual compartments were too small for most baits (including some of the Megabass cranks). Let me see if I can find the article . . .

I read that article before. It's a shame that a $350 tacklebox won't even hold the crankbaits made by the same company. Their lures sure are nice, though. I have 3 or 4...

i am trying to make up my mind on which new jig rod to buy.
1. Falcon Cara Amistad
2. Falcon Cara Head Turner

i have it narrowed down to these two but just can't make up my mind which one i like the best. i am leaning towards the amistad right now but i am working on my wife to let me buy both so i won't be disapointed......she is not in 100% agreement with this theory.

An elderly gentleman who i see fishin' on occasion has several Falcon rods... Is it wrong that i'm waiting for him to have a heart attack so I can lift a few rods before I start CPR???

Those Amistads sure look like something i would love to try.

OK, so maybe I save his life and then ask for a rod in return...
