Is it too soon?
Yeah, I'm talking about next year's BF.com get together. The last two were down south, and it's a dadgum long freakin' ride for me anyway - and I don't think I'm making any southern trips next year other than Florida. What to you guys think about comming to the Potomac River, next year. It is probably the best fishery in the Northeast. It does tend to get busy on the weekends from April through October, but that should tell you just how great the fishing is there. Bass fishing is terrific, both numbers and big ones. You will also have the chance for a snakehead. Snakeheads will give you a strike and fight unparalled in fresh water and I hear they are tasty but I haven't personally tried them as table fare. They are getting BIG, the picture below is not me but look at the fish, and I do know exactly where this one was caught. I'm trying to get some time to get down there in the next few weeks if the heat slacks off a little, but will definitely be going there come fall when it cools down a bit. Catching one from my kayak would be a BLAST!

Bruce, you know I'll come over there. I could definitely underwhelm you with my massive 115 Opti.
I might even perhaps get to partake in a day of ocean fishing while I'm at it. It sounds great.

It may be tough, I'm graduating around that time next year, but I do think the potomac is an excellent idea location wise. I was just in DC for last weekend and I tell you, I wanted to get down there in that river...walked over the key bridge several times and it looks bassy down there.

Ok, I just threw it out there to see if there would be ANY interest. It certainly does not have to be in the spring. September is AWESOME fishing also. If you like fishing frogs on mats - that would be an excellent time. Spring offers mostly fishing the grass beds or pads. You've seen the Captain's posts with all the lilly pads in the background. But spring or fall it's great fishing. Summer there is like most other places - it's HOT. The only issue would be no lodges on the water, that keeps me away during really hot weather as I'm not fond of launching, pulling the boat and repeating it for the evening. So it's not convienient for a break mid-day. But if you don't mind getting out at daylight and fishing to about 3 or 4 in the afternoon, then some dinner and BS time, sleep and repeat, it's a great fishery. It's also tidal, that may be an experience for some guys that may not have fished tidal water. Tide definitely has an effect on the bite, and some places become hazzardous during low tide. It was just a thought.

I sure would like to tie into a snakehead! Thats on my bucket list for sure. I'd be interrested depending on lodging, access, and so forth.

I am interested, it would be a sweet trip...we could even go see some battlefields one day if guys wanted to. I've been wanting to head to the northeast, and it would be on the way.
I guess my mind is still spinning each time I think of a new place to go visit, cause I have done so much this summer it seems like I gotta settle down and be conservative for a little while..and the uncertainty in emerging from school into this economy has made me as skittish as a trout in a chalk stream...but...I could get behind the idea.

I'd definitely make that trip, as long as I'm out of school by the event (usually early May).

Maryland or Virginia. Potomac doesn't quite get into PA but is part of the border between VA & MD. Can fish from either side with either license. I haven't launched from the VA side or stayed in any of the hotels over there either. I know people that do so I can get referrals. Would depend upon how many and what they want to do. It would be a little longer drive for those comming from the west, but you could use D.C. as a reference if you want to know how far you would be traveling. For guys like Billy, and maybe myself, kayak fishing would not be a problem. From the MD side, you could fish Mattawoman for 3 -4 days in a kayak and not fish the same water. VA side there are also several kayak friendly creeks.

Man that P345 makes A LOT OF NOISE. Blew apart a few plastic containers filled with water today. I like doing that for some reason. If I can hit a gallon jug at 20 yards, I can hit center mass................. I don't really see the need to drive tacks with a weapon used for protection. I was wondering what the hell was going on. I am delusional at times but I don't normally imagine posts and threads that don't exist.

Yes it sounds great just need to get the dates set so I do not book over them. If we plan it in mid June we can have some crabs one night. Any way I can host two non-boaters on my boat. So those who travel a great distance do not need to drag a boat.
