The mighty dink!
I went down to the base pond this morning for a 20 minute session. One of the guys in the office had asked me to help him learn to catch fish. Since he does not have any experience, I decided that we would mess around with the blue gill to start out. I was throwing my fenwick ultralight rod with a small diawa spinning reel and 2 lbs test. For bait, I was using a a 3" green power worm, the type you would use for trout, with a 1/32 oz split shot.
We were catching blue gill left and right when I got a much stronger bite than previously. While he was not very big, the 10 inch bass was a blast on the ultralight setup. I began tossing the setup into the weeds a little more and did manage to get a massive strike. 2lbs test does not hold up well to a "cross their eyes" hookset. Oh well, still a fun way to start the morning.
