A great christmas gift
I was doing a little christmas shopping at dicks sporting goods a few days ago and somehow found my way to the fishing section where I came across a great rod and reel combo. It was a quantum code reel, 7.0 gear ratio with a quantum 6'10 mh rod. I took it off of the shelf and was messing with it, the reel has a quick release side cover and has the acs cast control. As for the rod I dont know what style it is but it seemed nice. The cost was $119.99, not bad. Just so happens my garcia reel that I use for top water broke a few months ago. I guess what Im trying to say is if you have to go shopping for christmas gifts try to stay away from sporting good stores that have fishing sections or you might find yourself shopping for yourself!

Congrats on the purchase!
There's nothing wrong with doing a little Christmas shopping for yourself. I finished my Christmas shopping yesterday and stopped at a local sporting goods store on the way home. I bought a bunch of Booyah jigs on clearance for $1.00 each. I also got some Rattlin' Rogues and Xcaliber XT3 twitch baits. Dave |

Shopping for yourself is the best way to get exactly what you want. It sounds like you made a great find, and that combo should serve you well for years to come. The only downside that I can see is that you'll have to wait a while to really try it out. Still, having it in hand and knowing it might not have been there in the spring makes its future use worth waiting for.

Now that sounds like a bargain. Congrats on the new outfit. And if you ever find a way to NOT end up in a fishing department, let me know. haha
