Well everything up till now from last post will be summed up in this short paragraph.. little of nothing.
.
Got the carb togeather. only thing i'm worried about is i hope i got this cam thing togeather right

have had a battle with paint since i started with the Krylon.. just seems like crappy high priced paint...the best thing yet is the collumn

got everything sprayed white now.. [not pictured] got some touch up work to do on it.. maybe go in tomorrow evening or sunday.

and thats about it..

yeah.. hope to get it on tomorrow

For parts, have you checked out National Parts Depot. That's were we've gotten a lot of parts for our Camaro and Mustang. I do believe that they have truck parts too.

I got the carb on , and the cam thing's arm came off so we took it back off and bent it a little so its staying on now.
My dad had to go to my little brothers basketball game so my dad wouldnt let me try and crank it w/o him here. I may edit the update if it runs.
Once i paint the arms for the shifter it can go on the truck

Oh yeah, i've left out an update somewhere. We've decided [my dad did anyway...and hes the one with a good bit of the wallet] to change the scheme to White/Red.. thus the collumn white. Once the carb gets to the point where it'll at least move the truck and i've got shifting and steering, then we'll drive it up to the house.. [its in the woods down a dirt road on my property] and take the rear fenders off and sand 'em and paint them white to see how that'll look. if it looks decent ( remember were doing a rattlecan job] then we'll probally take the bed off and do some work with the cross members of the bed and may do some coil work to drop it a little. My grandpa and I restored his old 200 y/o barn a few years back and we have some wood left and my dad had the idea to get the widths of wood right for the bed, buy the stainless strips and bolts.. then plane the wood off for the bed with the remainder of the wood from the barn. Wouldnt that be neat? But all in all once the truck is moving, the ongoing sheetmetal battle begins.

haha i hope i can get it.. it'd be more worth fixing.. i think..

i cant tell if its LB or SB though

Quote:
i saw your craigslist ad and was wondering if you still had the truck. Also, what engine does it have, what body style.. and most importantly Pics. Also i was wondering if you were willing to part it out?
__________________________________________________ _____________

the truck is solid all but the rocker panels and a few spots on the doors. i have replaced the waterpump, radiator, put new tires on it. i drove it to take trash off and the points system gave me problems and had someone put in a updated disribtor in it and the timing was off so i haven't messed with it the card was new but from setting most likely needs overhauling. i would ike to sell it as awhole but if you want it i'll take 400 for it and i do have a titlepictures are attached

nice pics. it is indeed a long bed correct?
do you have any pics of the int and rocker rust areas?

i wonder what the card he is talking about..

mr photog IF you go and look at it in person. look at the radiator support, it is most likely rusted beyond repair. see...the battery on these models have the battery tray mounted on the radieator core support. acid from the old batteries rusted out the support and tray along with the INNER fender. core support costed me over 350 bucks, and came from a place out in california. nos (new old stock). fenders are easy to replace. as well as other parts, BUT the core support is not easy. check it out REAL close ok?

Be careful if you get used tires. Just cause they look good doesnt mean they are. A good looking set of used tires nearly killed me last year and caused me to wreck the truck, boat and everything on the interstate.

six lug wheels ona 71? are ya sure it ain't a 3/4 or 1 ton? 1/2 tons didn't have 6 lug wheels. and if it is a 6 lug, it is most likely a long bed. rocker panels are easy to find and fairly cheap. like i said earlier, the radiator core support is the COSTLY piece. everything else you can fisnd in after markets.

lol well photog, YOU have a LOT of work ahead of you buddy. you gonna leave in the old straight 6? or are ya gonna put in a nice BIG BLOCK 454, 396, OR MAYBE A 427?
the rust is in typical areas my friend. corner, rockers, door corners, yea.....seen it all once bafore bub.
do you watch spike tv? there is a show on there called TRUCKS. they recently showed how to cut a long bed down to a short bed. very interesting show(s). check it out. swb trucks bring more money and if done right, look great. i personally like a short box better than a long box.
oh yea, mine was the same blue, but had a white top. i am sure you have seen those before. i STILL haven't had time to look for those catalogs yet. i will try to this weekend,ok? been getting ready for the next cold front, ice, sleet wind and the DANG COLD!
