Line for Jigs

Have a heavy action 6-10 baitcasting rod I am going to use for jigs, Purchased a Daiwa Viento Reel for the rod and was going to use 17# BPS Fluoro line on it. Does this line size and type sound OK to use. I fish the deep clear TVA mountain lakes.

I'd go with a 15-17lb Fluorocarbon as well. I like Seaguar lines and will be using AbrasX in 15lb on my jig rod this summer.

Braid can also be used if you'll be fishing in a lot of vegetation. If you're fishing more open water with like football jigs or something, the FC would be my choice.

That's a great line to use. I actually used the same line for jigs last year

I fish jigs a lot, and in a lot of different situations. I have been using Seaguar Flourocarbon for many years now with great results. I have been using AbrazX since it came out and it's by far the best line I have ever used. Not once have I had the line fail on me and it's as user friendly as flourocarbon line gets. I used InvizX for quite a while before AbrazX came out and it's a good line too, but AbrazX seems to be quite a bit tougher which is important when you are dragging jigs around in some nasty stuff. I use 15lb test the most but 17lb will work too. The BPS flouro is an ok line but I have noticed that it does have quite a bit of memory which can be a pain, I haven't bought any of it in years but I have a tourney partner who bought a spool of it last year and after one tourney he stripped it off and respooled with Seaguar because of the memory.

Which ever line you go with I strongly recommend you using KVD Line and Lure Conditioner on it, it will make it much more managable.

12 lb P-Line CXX for heavier cover but you can try 12-17 lb P-Line CX if you want something a little thinner and something that the fish cant see as well.

I think I'd go down to 12lb if the cover your fishing allows it. The thinner 12lb would also let you cast further, which is important when fishing clear water. Or you could get the best of both, and go to 14lb.
