Birthday buddy
Guys since the secret santa worked out so well how about a birthday buddy? A lot of other guys expressed they would have liked to get in on it but were late. They wouldn't have to wait till next year. A few guys wanted to do every month too. I think this would be a good idea.
Anyone wanting to get in on it just send me your address and I'll match you up with someone else. Since Tavery did such a good job and Tarpon said his birthday is coming up I thought of this. If you agree and like the idea we have the rest of the year to get in on it. I think ten dollars is a decent limit. But other ideas are welcome. Just think if your birthday is next December 25th or after you get two sets of presents. lol

I think Birthdays would be hard to get everybody's names together. Just a thought here. I have a friend who is a member of sportfihing T-Shirt club were each month he receives a shirt related to sport fishing. He always has some pretty cool shirts. I think ten dollars would be a good amount and we do it once a month. I would be glad to help and Tom already has an address base that could be added to.

You can count me in on just about anything like this. It's too much fun to do only once a year, plus, anything that gives me an excuse to go buy fishing gear is welcome!
I think the $15 - $20 limit is a good place to keep it, it's low enough that it doesn't break the bank and high enough that you can still buy something decent. The one problem I see with doing birthdays is someone's could be in February and someone else's in November. It's hard to always count on people to be around for a year. I would be up for doing a monthly or every 2 month Secret Santa style exchange. It could even be themed. One month is "jigs" one is "swimbaits" etc... I would also be happy organizing something or helping out in any way. As far as a Birthday exchange, I'm in.

Joe, I like the themed idea. Maybe every few months. And definitely a Cristmas in July one.
I too think it may be hard to do for birthdays, but maybe. BB

I had another thought on the b-day idea. Maybe we could get X number of people who we feel confident are going to be around for a year. Each member's birthday is made known to the group. Everyone buys one small gift for that person on their birthday. So when your birthday rolls around you get 10 or so gifts, one from each participant. We could set a small, one bait limit on gifts. That keeps it relatively cheap, easy and you will get a nice haul on your birthday.
Just an idea.

I like this...I think the once-a-month "Santa" thing would be too much, but one fairly small gift every so often would work good, I think.
By the way, my birthday is January 6.....just throwin' that out there....

This might be a lot to try to keep up with though, it would depend on how many people participate and how close together their birthdays are. If nothing else we should do a Secret Santa style gift exchange every couple of months, that way you aren't on the hook all year. If the response for the birthday ideas are too low I will bring it up again in February sometime. I really like the idea of a themed gift exchange with a $15 - $20 limit. People can choose when and if they want to participate and the theme will change every time. I am open to suggestions and don't mind coordinating, the Secret Santa Christmas exchange was too much fun not to do more often.
