Leaving soon
Just getting all packed up for a 3 day fishing trip with denny at brookville lake.
Plus some mushroom hunting on the park that surrounds the 11,000+ acre lake. We are going to hunt for largemouth in the backs of the creeks/coves, do some crappie fishing for supper near any wood we find, and maybe some fishing the points and rocks on the main lake for smallies. Pics to follow on Wed! lol thats is all......... |

I've never had the opportunity to eat any of those Morel Mushrooms. How do you prepare them and how do they taste compared to the store bought variety?

They don't sell 'store bought' Morels, Bob. You can only find these in da backcountry. My favorite way to prepare them is to melt about 1/3 a stick of butter in a pan, flip 'em in, then cook 'em for a good five minutes or so. Pull em out, add some seasoned salt, and eat 'em!
-Buzz P.S. - I've been looking up here Denny and haven't found any yet. This rain and warm weather we've been having should help though. |

they taste great bob, after ya pick some, cut them into and clean with water, then put in a bowl of new water and soak with salt like ya do fish.
Then you can cook in a hot skillet with butter (oil is ok, but less taste) bread the shroom with any combo ya like , just like fish.. flour n salt, pepper, cracker crumb, or any store bought. The more flavor your seasoning has, it takes away from the taste of the shroom, so most dip in egg with milk, then flour n salt/pepper. Great with steaks, or by them selves. |

We just got off the lake after 3 days of fishing, no shroom hunting, too busy drinkin lol
Sunday was a great day for some smallies and walleye and one or two largemouth, plus we found a school of white bass. Denny got 2 walleyes and I got one, plus a dink, then Monday it was dead all over the lake, blue skies...everyone we talked to got skunked, and looked pissedoff. Mostly crappie anglers. Sunday we only got 2 white bass south of the brickyard The walllyes in smallies were all in templeton in the middle of the trees, about 1/2 way back from mainlake pt. We threw the xrap all weekend, denny got to eat walleye and hes hooked on jerkin now. One thing nice about this weekend was fishing a deeper end of the lake. ITs 11000 acres and we were in 30-60 feet for the smallies n walleyes, the other spots was deep but we kept the boat in 24-16 feet and caught most in 12 feet. Tons of fish suspended on dennys new graph heres some lake pics of pts, and the dam, some of dennys walleyes and smallies click to enlarge pics Heres what we threw all weekend..air temp 66-77, water temp 59 to 62 |

Thats a beautiful walleye! Sounds like you had a good time despite things being slow the second day. I'm gonna have to try that lake some day. Thanks for the photos.
