When my dad was fishing in a tournament in New York he got a 14lbs pike on a spinnerbait.

The big fish hangout in the same types of cover, if you are catching small bass or pike in an area....Move, big pike will eat small pike and vise-versa.

Think about this for a second PIKE are a predatory fish hmmmmmm I guess they wouldn't be TOO far away from them but I do have one hint for you when fishing where theres pike.
when the bass are bitting good then all of a sudden no fish are bitting there is pike roaming thought. I notice this in ice fishing especially in small lakes the pike do loops around the lake, so when they are gone pan fish and bass are active when the pike do their loops come around the pan fish and bass lay low till they are gone. you can almost time the pike loops out which is crazy, then you can put you pike lure on. it's quite crazy.

I bet your right Robzilla, it's like my bird feeders in my back yard. They are almost always active, but there are times when a few days go by with very litle activity. When that happens there is always a hawk hanging out nearby in my trees. Same idea underwater.
