Default Reel maintenance

I am wondering, where is a good place to send in my reels for maintenance?

I see that you are somewhat close to me. I am probably going to send them out to you in maybe a week or so. How long does it usually take for the reels to get back to the customer?

The winter is the the busy season. From now until late spring, the shop times will be slower than normal. I can usually keep the shop times at about 1 to 2 weeks. Include shiping time and the reels might be gone a total of 2 to 3 weeks. If I get so busy that it will take longer than that, I will start a reservation system and make appointments for customers to send reels. I had to do that last year for a few months in early spring.

Hey Lil Jake, I strongly recommend Kevin at Pro Reel, not only does he do good work, he will lead you through procedures he feels that you can do on your own. I would bet you get your reals back before the ice is out and they will work better than out of the box for you.

yes, if you have a tracking number, email it to me kevin@proreelservice.com

To any potential customers that need thier reels back fast, such as someone in the South that gets to fish year round. Thats no problem at all. Simply make an appointment to send the reels. I will look at my schedual and current reels in the shop and then tell you when to send the reels. In that situation, I will be ready for your reels on the day they get here and can guarantee a 48hr to 36hr turn around on cleanings, tunings and reels that don't need major parts replacement.

Hey Pro Reel, what is the cost to send in a few baitcasters and a few spinning reels? I just wanted to know thereabouts before I go sending my reels off.

Dan, looking over your four posts, half of them have been simply advertising for yourself. The other two were simple, quick, one liners that did answer people's questions.

Before you go advertising on this forum, please try build a reputation first. Make some posts (that aren't advertisements), and participate in threads (not just quick one liners). Start threads, ask question, share information. Kevin (pro reel) has become an active and productive member of the forum, and even the chat room.

Interjecting self promotions into threads won't get you very far here, actually quite the opposite.

I have a Quantom model E650pt that was junk from the day my dad purchased it. He sent it into quantom 3 times and they returned it 3 times. No explanation or reason for problem. I service all my own reels and for the life of me cannot figure out what's wrong with this reel. I would love to have it fixed if you could.

Wink

It casts excellent and handles great 9 times out of 10. Then its like the thumb bar wont engage all the way. for example, if you cast and let the bait land, and click the reel handle over to engage, it wont always do it until 2 or 3 cranks. then the most memorable one.... I set the hook hard one time because a bass grabbed my jig and was running at me.. When I set the hook it was like I just hit the thumb bar and totally backlashed the entire reel. Needless to say, I was ready to throw the thing in the water... I almost think that the metal square toothed spline that reengages the spool was out of tolerance or something. (too small) ?? I dont know. My dad past away 5 years ago and I still have the reel in a box and would love to be able to use it. Sorry for the long post. I have no problem sending it to you and really dont care what it costs.. Within reason lol

I could be wrong here ( and probably am ) but I think I had a reel do something like that before. I believe I solved my problem by simply turing on the brake tabs inside the case. For what ever reason they were all "off" so to speak.

The notched plate under the main gear may not be set in the right spot, or it could be a bit worn on the edges. The trip lever that is engaged by the notches may be worn on the tip or it may be getting stuck. I can fix that for you.
