Default Serenity Now

Driving into work today traffic was not as bad since the snow plows had added the two missing lanes back to 295 North. The sun was bright and I opened my window a bit. Amazingly the air did not cut into my face like frozen razor blades. In fact it felt good and thoughts of spring only four weeks away raced thru my mind. I could almost smell the honey suckle and hear the sirens of spring called peepers. The snow was thinner on the landscape and my heart felt like a giant weight was lifted from it.

Yes it was a moment of complete anticipation like when you dated that girl back in high school who made you have butterflies in your stomach just thinking of her. It was grand...

Then I hit a backup in the 3rd street tunnel. And Manic Depression played via back wards guitar..

By the end of the tunnel I was back in winter form.. depressed again.

Four weeks to go.. I can make it ..yes I can..

Capt Mike

Me too!!! I was thinking about it last night as I wandered aimlessly through Academy with two bags of marked down Kinami Flash watermelon pepper stickbaits in my hands, I have been to 7 different sporting good/tackle stores in the last week and a half! I think I have bought something every trip. Nothing big mind you but nothing I couldn't do without either. I mean I needed two more bags of watermelon Senko's right?? Right???

Man, the things we take for granted living in the south. Never stays cold for my than a week or 2 and we get a warming trend. The lakes never freeze over, just the mud holes. We can fish for the reason we are here day in and day out. It just makes me say, I hate it's you, but I'm glad it ain't me. Sorry for the sarcasm in you time of need brother. No hard feelings.

LOL no hard feelings whatsoever. If I lived somewhere warmer, I'd feel the exact same way.
Someday........
really though, I don't see where I'll have any choice but to take up ice fishing next year. Not a complete substitute for warm weather bassin' but it's a better cure for cabin fever than browsing Cabela's website every couple hours

I just picked up a bunch of bait for ice fishing, no sign of spring for a LONG time here. I ice fish only because I need to get out, I go crazy inside for so long. It passes the time but is not really fun, I don't understand how a lot of people like it better than warm water fishing.

And I need to do something about getting down south, permanently.

You know, I'd really like to see how much of the tackle companies' sales are in the Winter, due to guys' boredom causing a monkey attack.

I am sure you noticed how close the BPS and Cabella's are from your location.

I would be curious to see a monthly break down of their sales too, I bet if you took a long enough sample some interesting trends would emerge. It has killed me this winter, I've been buying stuff that I already know I have and that I don't have room for anyway. I'm a sucker for a sale.

Same here. I've spent quite a bit since November, but 95% of it was on sale, some of it on incredible sales.

Sorry, I forgot that the Cabela's is in Reno rather than Vegas.

Lake Mead is a great place to fish while you are out there.
