Default What kind of fish is this?

Got a question for you guys. Went out on the boat today and storms put an end to that. So we headed down past the spillway a bit and I caught this. Just throwin a crt/wht spinner, slipped it over a tree branch in the middle and WHAM!!! It smashed the 1/2 oz. spinner and completely straightened the wire. Put up a good fight as it took out drag.
Of course, the scale batteries are out so I have no idea what it weighed, any ideas out there? Keep in mind the person holding the fish is 6' tall.
Oh yeah, and it had this weird like extendo lip thing going on. Thanks for any input guys. I do appreciate it.

Hey, thanks for the info guys! I'm guessing it weighed a good 8 lbs. I never got a chance to hold it after the wife unhooked it. I was fumbling with my phone camera.
Ok, time to see what just got smashed. Had a good hail storm move over the area just now.

We call them Kentucky Redfish round here.... I had a 15lb one make me a believer in terminator titanium spinnerbaits. I thought that thing was done for when i saw this fish surface... it didnt even make that lure blink.

I can not imagine a 30 pounder and the fight that ensues.

Yup! Been there! Done that! on a finesse jig and drop shot rod! This was in 2006 on Eagle Mountain Lake just north of Ft. Worth. It weighed 27 lbs on my digital scales. Put that slimy thing back in the water and found out that it would've been a new lake record when I got off the water. The old record was 11 lbs. Oh well! I'm not so sure I would've wanted to be the proud owner of that record since most bassfishing folk in Texas hate those nasty things.

My friends joke that I could catch a drum out of a bathtub, seems they might be right sometimes. We call them dorkfish because of their overbite among other goofy looking features.
