Default Weekly Lake Fork Report From Guide Jim Reaneau

Well, the winds have been a welcome site and so has the cooler days. It has been bearable on the lake this week. With the cloud cover the fishing has been good. The shallow fish were moving early. The Lake Fork Tackle Twitch worm fished wacky was a good starter around the grass. The top water was not working for me this week. After the early bite I moved out to deeper water and the Texas and Carolina rig was the rest of the day pattern. The lake Fork Tackle Baby Ring Fry and Creature were the best baits and I alternated between the two baits. Most days we would catch two or three and have to move on and yesterday we were able to stay in one place and catch them pretty consistent. We didn’t catch any big fish but good solid slot fish. They fought like big fish as they would pull so hard you thought it was fall fishing. The water temp has fallen to 82 and this may have had them frisky to. The weather looks to start back up to the 100 degrees so this weekend you may need to get out before it does. We never got any of the rain that skirted the lake and the lake is falling. You will need to be careful when you make your runs. Be sure and give plenty of room to points when you go by them.
The crappie were about 8 to 12 foot down under the bridges and over brush. This sounds funny but it was the case. I went fishing with a client of mine up at lake Bonham and the fish were at 10 to 12 foot there. That is crazy to be the same depth on two different lakes 80 miles apart. But give it a try before you say this guide is crazy.
If you want to book a half day or and all day trip while it is cool give me a call.

Jim,

I finally put a face to the name today, watching ESPN, and you were being interviewed about lake FORK, while they were fishing "Day On The Lake". It was Stringer who was on the lake, and he did catch a HAWG for the camera.
