Wed. FULL MOON! Who's going fishing?
Decided earlier this week that I'm quitting my job, sounds like I have one lined up (if everything falls in place of course), tomorrow is the full moon, winter is approaching, big bass should be gorging themselves to stock up for the winter, seems like tomorrow might be an excellent day for some fishing, might as well call in sick

cold front hit us last night, another one will hit again, my fishing season has pretty much ended, it might reach single digits tonight, if the wind kicks up

The cold front came through alabama last night. My fishing down here in tuscaloosa will take a huge hit, so I guess I'll start focusing towards north alabama - the sauger and trout will get going soon, plus guntersville is a good winter lake for lunkers.

well I'll be a monkeys uncle. took out some minnows on a lake I had never fished before, BEAUTIFUL lake, but just couldn't get a bass to bite my line. I caught a speck and a mud fish, but no bass. The bass were going nuts all over the lake, was constantly seeing them hit the top of the water next to shore, next to cover, off shore, middle of the lake, EVERYWHERE, just couldn't get them on my line. Had 3 rods out with minnows while throwing all my topwaters on another rod, just wasn't my day. It appeared like they were feeding on insects as I didn't see one baitfish jumping out of the water yet saw many dragon flies and other insects being stalked by the bass. I don't know what I did, but somehow I managed to piss off the owner of the lake........a 12-14 foot gator. She stalked me briefly, was rather bold too, just as soon as I dropped anchor I noticed her swimming towards me from open water (for you non-native floridians, most gators will swim away from humans as they're natually scared). I turned the seat around and made eye contact, at that point all I could see was her head/snout, about 2.5 foot long. She stopped swimming about the time I made eye contact and then she rose her back up! Boy was she wide, at least 3 feet wide! She lowered her body back into their normal swimming/cruising position so just her head was visible again so I figured she was just gonna let me be so I decided to start fishing, errr, wrong answer. She started swimming a little closer and again raised her back out of the water. After one more cast I grabbed for the anchor and paddled out of there to another spot. I must have been close to her nest or she stuffer her last catch under the log near me and didn't want to share. She never got closer than 50 feet but could definately tell she was annoyed by my presence. Being that my john boat is no bigger than a bathtub while only sitting inches off the water, I didn't want her getting ANY closer.

I fished the full moon. The bite was great. Caught about 7 bass during that evening. A shame most of them were VERY small (10-11in).. My 13 inch bass was the fish of the day..lol...
It's freezing over here in Georgia.. time to get out my minnow plugs and jigs. I'm fishing all winter long, all the way... I've always been die-hard towards anything I love to do. seaphantom

Use small, flashy spinnerbaits.

Use small spinnerbaits of bright colors with a colorado & willow leaf blade combination. Works well, even on the bigger bass. I've had a bass of around 4-5 lbs come and slam one one day. Too bad he ended up a fish story... good luck next time, seaphantom

Just wondering do "DEAD" gators float or sink? Don't want the evidence to be too easy to find Lizards

good question lizard, never had to kill any.....yet. Gator season just opened up not too long ago as well. The state of florida held a lottery this year for gator hunters. I might apply next year, wouldn't mind wrastlin with some small ones. Ever had gator tail? yummy!

Rodman, I thought gators were only supposed to be aggresive in spring? The other day I was fishing a little further south than I normally do and I came upon a 10-11 footer sunning, so I moved in sorta close to get a picture. Apparenty the gator was old fashioned and didn't want to be photographed.

WTL, you're correct, around mating season and after the hatch they tend to be more aggressive. I don't know exactly why this one acted the way he did, I was near the shoreline, he came from the open water, not sure if I was near his nest, or if he had been fed in the past and was looking for a handout or what. The most dangerous gators are those that have been fed in the past as these are the ones with almost no fear of humans and will come right up to you hoping for food but inadvertantly taking an arm or leg. Once this happens the state comes in traps and kills them.
