well with the chatterbait, just slowly reel it in,maybe pause it,twitch it,drag it,just experiment. with the jig,use it and fish it like you would a worm,in the same areas and cover you would fish it.

Big,
I have had the best results with the chatterbait when pitching it like you would a regular jig. I think that the flash of the blade is something that they haven't seen in that format very much. Also I have had success when casting past structure/brush, reeling it up to the structure and then deadsticking it. This is similar to the pitching method, yet has a different presentation. Honestly, I have never had a fish hit a chatterbait when using a steady retreive or a retreive with pops like a spinnerbait.

I've done both ways with a chatterbait, sounds like a cliche, but it's true, let the fish decide how they want it that day, always think outside the box!

As for a jig, same deal, sometimes I pitch it out there and shake it, sometimes I hop it, and sometimes I pitch it, pump the rod once, and go to the next piece of cover.

There really is no 'right' answer for either question. More than once I've had to pull my foot out of my mouth when I told my fishing partner that what he was doing was stupid, and it would never work! I keep pretty quiet now

There you go, 4 times, no hits. That bait must just suck.

I've caught a few on one-not the great fish catcher everyone raved about earlier this year, but the do work.

The chatterbait is a waste of money IMO.

So is there any sort of consensus here? I am ordering a few from dampeoples and would like some suggestions. What are they meant to imitate? (that is usually where I start, think like bait)

These things are hot stuff around here. I like to fish them slow, pausing every now and then to let it drop. Toss in a few short jerks for good measure. Make sure you have a trailer on there.

Chatterbaits are gggrrreeeeaaaatttt!!! I dont care what anyone says , I catch fish with them and some of my biggest on them.. I do however like the concept robbing Booyah Boogie bait better , I like the flexible VMC Hook...

fish something 4 times in a row and not catch anything that makes the lure bad? flawed logic

These baits are NOT weedless. For me they hang up in every branch that I throw to. Use spinnerbaits, not the kind with the Titanium wires. They hang up about as bad. The wire collapses and exposes the hook.

I fish them a LOT like I fish a spinnerbait on a clear lake, clear, sunny day.
White head, clear or clear/few blue strands skirt, and just RIP it as fast as I can.
It works

i use to never throw spinnerbaits because they never worked for me until i couldnt get fish to hit ANYTHING and i thought why not and the fish starting hammering it every 10 casts or so

what im saying is im sure the chatterbait has a time and place and when your at either it will make you a believer or if you want any of you that dont like throwing them can send me theirs xD
