Default Drop Shotting

I'm going to try out drop shotting tomorrow. What size hook and what type would you recommend for a 4" baby tiki stick? What line and weight?
2/0 EWG Worm Hook with #6 Fluoro or Mono?

Thanks all.

What are some popular drop shot baits?

Joolz-I use a dropshot hook-a very small hook almost like what you would use to tie a fly and use a finesse worm hooked through the nose with the point exposed. Contrary to what a lot of other people use I fish it with 12 lb fluoro on a baitcaster. For weight there are specific weights designed for drop shotting but just about any weight will work. A bell sinker will do the job nicely.

Just make sure you rig it with the point of the hook up. Tie a palomar, then hold the hook so it points up and thread the tag line back through the eye of the hook so it hangs below the hook and then just add your sinker.

Jools,

Be certain to use a dropshot weight...one that can be broken off if snagged, thereby preserving both hook and worm.
For my d'shotting, I use #20 braid with a 10-12 lb P-Line Fluorocarbon Leader (the specific leader material, that is) and, most often, a 1/0 or 2/0 Gamakatsu WEEDLESS Finesse hook. Thus equipped I can fish cover where an unprotected hook will almost certainly snag.
Also, unlike most, I fish dropshot almost exclusively on a baitcasting rig. I use a Shimano Chronarch 50MG on a St. Croix Avid AC69MLXF, a rod designed specifically for dropshop. That rod, BTW, when paired with a light and ultra-smooth baitcaster (the 50MG weighs less than six ounces) will serve well for casting tiny cranks and jerkbaits, so well as weightless 4" worms and teensy jigs. For that application, I rig one with P-line FloroClear in 6-10 test, no braid.
The use of braid will accomplish several things. It will increase sensitivity and hooksetting power (true dropshot rods are a little lame in that regard). It will also save you some bux because you will get lots of mileage between respools since you will only have to replace the leader now and then (The Dreaded J-Knot!) and braid, unless abused, lasts virtually forever.
Be safe!
