Going Bass Fishing
Hey everyone. It's starting to get real nice out, and if it keeps up, I'll be going fishing about 40 minutes away from here at my grandpa's friend's house. He's going to sell the house really soon. Anyways...
He lives on a private lake and the bass fishing is GREAT there. I went there about 4-5 months ago, and I wish I would've known what I know now. (I'll be fishing from shore) The lake isn't that big. Most lakes around here aren't big. How would you approach fishing this lake right after it melts? Sturcture, baits, colors? What are the bass feeding on? I'm thinking something slow... Jig n Pigs, Wide wobble slow crankbaits... Thanks |

try a white spinnerbait close to shallow warm water, like parallel to the shoreline, you may find a bass in old reeds catching some rays..if they want something slow, I'd try any water on the northeast bank thats shallow, it will be warmer, and try a slow deadstick plastic..fish slow..even if you don't get bites, its nice to be out there on a warm day after 6 weeks of zero weather.

Thanks JB. Every fishing trip I make, I pre-plan in a log. It's amazing how just a few entries can make a difference in what you learn.
Would you use a colorado blade? It's probably gonna be about 6 foot visibility. |

Lol. Here is another question... Do you use fluorocarbon line for deadsticking worms?

"I" don't but that doesn't mean "YOU" can't. Your gonna have to figure out what "YOU" like the best. If damnpeoples can use a medium rod for Fluke fishing and be happy with that, than anything is possible rotfl. Lizards

Yeah Lizards, you're right. Does anyone have a link to a page that explains what the bass mainly feed on during each season? Does it change with location?

ifin you all aint figured it out yet..i don't like to SLOW DOWN to something as slow as a dead sticking a worm.. i have done it and it works -i needed the nap any way-how tom and some of the northern guys dead stick a senko in 75 feet of water is beyond me.. and yes 500-600 cast in 8 hours is NORMAL for this area.. i might slow down when it gets hot-i hate breaking a sweat- and throw a carolina rig.. zooker
