Default Looking Back

I had a bit of time to kill here and just looked back on the posts and threads I made when I joined this site after starting bass fishing last year.

I guess I could look at it two ways:

1) Boy was I ever stupid, OR
2) Wow, I sure have learned a lot in a short period of time

I prefer door number 2! Seriously though, it amazes me how many things seemed so complicated at the time but with practice it is now second nature and seems so simple. I think the best thing about fishing for me is that no matter how much I learn, I've still only scratched the surface. I'll probably look again next year, and the year after that, and wonder how I ever caught a fish knowing what I know as of today.

Before anyone else says it, yes I know that this thread is proof that a mind is a terrible thing to waste and yes I do have far too much free time on my hands!

I did that after my first year of fishing, and I had learned so much. I bet if you go over your posts in another year you will have the same reaction. This forum has got to be the best place besides the lake to learn how to fish.

Ditto fellas, i was one of those guys who never used the search and asked questions that had been asked fifty times already.... everybody still answered and I've learned a ton!

I was just telling myself last weekend while out on the lake, if I only knew 30 years ago what I know today about fishing.

Well your right just look how far you have come in such a short time. The smartest thing you ever did was to ask questions. Without question one will never learn squat!

Get this:

I can remember back to my first year of bass fishing and thinking....

"Gee whiz, there are all these great lure designs and components...but why doesnt a manufacturer make a lure that has 3 treble hooks, props, spinnerblades, feathers, skirts and a diving lip all on one lure? As all of these components obviously contribute to productivity, they should just make one with everything! Lure designers are stupid, I know this would work cause I read bassmaster everyday and have for 8 months...."

All I can say is the day I quit learning is the day I quit fishing. Great thing about these boards-I've learned as much from y'all as you have learned from me, and that is the whole reason for these boards in the first place IMO-to share information.

Ditto, RB! These "boards" sure can be addicting too!
