Default Wnter Fishing in NC

Yes, I'm a newbie.Glad to find this site. I'm fishing a small pond about 7 acres, it is a old rock quary test hole, No flowing water so we have weeds on the bottom 1 feet deep ,no stumps or trees on bottom . We are in a Drought so water is about 5 feet down , in middle of pond it's around 7 feet with some holes around 11 feet. The side drops drops to 4 feet slowly from bank. The pond is just outside of Wilmington,NC the air temp is running from 47 to 55 degrees in mid day.I've been having good luck with Rattle track Crank baits, but there slowing down on the stricks, any suggestions on any other baits or what might get the fish stricking in the winter months. In my bio is our club web site go to pics and you can see the pond ,some what. Yes it's the body of water the RC boats are running on. Thanks to all Todd Anderson

Thumbs up

Sounds like a nice place to fish. My suggestion would be to slow everything down. Break out the jigs and craw-worms, and as the water temps cool even more, start using the pork frog trailers (Uncle Josh #11 or #1 depending on the size you want to present). Instead of swimming or hopping the bait it's time to start crawling it very slowly and very methodically. As the temps drop I go more and more to my black color combos (black and blue, black and brown, black and chartreuse, black and Purple, etc. match the trailer for the most part). You can always slow roll a big old spinnerbait too.
