what kinda setup do ya go and what kind of frogs do yall like and how do yall fish them

7'6 heavy action rod, 50-65 lb. braid, a stout reel with plenty of crankin power, I use a 5500. You wait till the grass mats up and fish across the top of it. I like to use snag proof, or weedless or whatever they're called ( hollow bodies, pop a hole in it and throw in a few glass beads). sometimes the fish want it fast and sometimes slow,just have to figure it out each day..

I don't fish fros much, but I throw them on my flippin' stick when I do. 30-40lb braid, I never use more than 40lb. I like the Zoom Horny toads, and the Strike King Ragetail Toad. Rigged on a 5/0 Owner Twist-lock hook, or 4/0-5/0 Gammy EWG. As for floating frogs and such, Spro Bronzeye frog all the way.

I prefer the floating soft belly Scum Frogs. Don't add a rattle to these, as they seem to offset the balance of the frog. I have one that floats on its side now due to a rattle. Use a couple glass beads like bo mentioned above. Glass or plastic beads provide the noise without the extra weight.

Make sure you wait about 3 to 4 seconds before setting that hook. I have yanked too many frogs out of a fish's mouth. Let me rephrase - I have yanked every frog out of the fish's mouth.

Tru-Tungsten's Force Beads. I think they have amuch better sounds than glass beads.

bout the same here guys i fish a 7 foot berkley lighting rod with a basspro extreme(flipin switch cause i use that pole for flippin) and powerpro 30# braid and as the frogs go same as BB Spro bronzeye all the way and i like Ribbit frogs with the stanly frog hooks

i really need a frog rod because i fish frogs quite a bit but don't like casting my flippin stick. so i usually end up using a medium heavy 7' falcon and that really is too light of a rod for the frog......as a matter of fact it cost me a fish tonight. i still land most of my fish with this set up although it isn't near enough rod for the job.

I use a 7ft med hvy shimano crucial with 30lb suffix braid on a revo stx baitcaster. I love this setup although I have had a problem with my line snapping on hooksets with frogs. I'm puzzled because it's braided line.

my disission was made after several long talks with a left coast frog guy.-deacon-if your going to do it right might as well get some advice from guys that have been doing it 10-12 years.before you drop the cash...
i fish alot of horny toads so i went with a 7'3'' heavy action fenwick frog stick. 40-60 pound braid i use a 7.0 high speed lefty reel..hooks i used only one 4/0 ewg gammy and have caught over 2300 bass with that ONE hook..

But, it is hard to beat the spro green/black



I've caught so many bass on that frog this year it looks like it got into a fight with some rough grit sandpaper, but still fishes like its brand new

The Spro is my frog of choice. I fish it with a 7' heavy action St. Croix Frog-n-Slop rod and 55 lb Diawa braided line. Best casting braid I've ever used!
