Instead of typing each rod and spec, I mainly use 7' for all apps. I Like a 6+ retrieve reel for all apps. And mainly anything with a treble hook I'll throw on a medium action rods, and the majority of single hooked baits will be thrown on a m/h to extra hvy action rods.

a couple exceptions from Joe here. I use more 6'6" rods, but am slowly moving almost all of them to 7' as time goes by , and I have a 7'6" Flipping stick for some flipping and pitching when on someone elses boat, to big for my little boat. I also prefer a slower retreiveal speed for cranks, 5:0 or so, because I already crank to fast, so it helps keep the cranks a little slower. And of course a medium rod for shallow to mid range cranks, I like to step up to a mh for deep diving cranks. Medium heavy or Heav y are my mainstay.

Liz,
I am gettin a flippin stick for a sweet deal. It is a qunatum tour edition 7 ft 6in flippin sitck in Heavy action, It takes 1/4 to 2 oz lures. I am gettin it for 45 dollars. Any advice on a flippin stick? I fiugred this would be a great worm.jig rod and maybe even a spinerbait in heavy cover

Honestly PNJ is more or a expert on those rods. I personally like a retractable rod, and heavy. It's for what someone phrased as hand to hand combat with the fish, and I agree. Make it as stiff as possible for me, but other folks like them differently. Any Flipping stick will work to start out with, I'm convinced you don't need to spend a lot of money on a Flippin stick, it just has to have backbone.

the only thing I have against holding onto a retractable rod is that it feels about the size ofa broomstick.

All rods are 7', minus the 6'6" falcon I use when Im fishing tight canals with lots of overhanging branches. Have both spinning and baitcasting reels. Prefer a middle of the road retrieve, I tend to reel fast so this way Im not over cranking.

We call my dads offshore rod a broom stick. It literally is!! In weight and in how bendable it is.

All I use is 6'6" med. hvy Falcon rods. Particularly for flippin' and pitchin', the shorter length helps me with accuracy. 6.1 retrieve speed except for worm rod which is 5.3
