Default Shut Down

I've noticed, In the late summertime around here, we get a lot of afternoon thunderstorms. If they roll through quick, and the sun comes out right after, getting a bite is real hard. If it stays cloudy for an hour or more, I can catch them either during the cloudy period, or after, when it's a sunny dusk with high clouds. During these periods, a red worm or tiki stik is deadly, and a popper works. What I want to know is how to catch bass after a t-storm rolls through and it's sunny. What techniques work in this situation? Thanks in advance...

Ya right on, most time thats when the bass will come out to forage for food. They fell safer coming out in the cloudy weather."BUT" you also have to watch for static electricity build up on the water cause it could be deadly. if you hear your rod humming when you move it ,head off the lake till it passes. Also just after a storm kicks up the fish to bite, because all the insects get dumped into the water and the fish are there to cash in on the free food.

In this situation I would try a spinnerbait.

It "may" be the barometer. Just prior to the rain it drops. Directly following the rain it rises.
Thats just my opinion.

after a long think i belive a shakey head rigged worm to work in the shut down period.. i would go 1/8oz ball head. 4" finesse or a 6"trick worm. fish it VERY slow..

If you can find them, powerbait makes a 4 inch straighttail worm, called the "finesse powerworm". They are great for shakeyhead rigging, I use black with a blue tip, and have had excellent results.

Yeah thats what I thought a month ago. Don't buy regular 4 inch powerworms, rengades aer just as good, but if you have a chance to fish the finnesse powerworm, buy a bag. If I see them anywhere, I would buy ev3ery last bag! I'm saving up my money to special order some.

I meant to reply earlier here. Great insight, I've noticed the same thing. Just haven't figured it out yet LOL.
