I would imagine shakey head users might. I say use a spinning reel if you want. There are many applications both reel types can do on par with each other. The rod's power and cover would need to be considered. For example I have a mh spinning for senkos and such and it can easily handle 1/4 oz jigs and a trailer if I so desired to use it for that.

The reason? Personal preference for whoever chooses to do this.

I've got a few light 3/16oz and less jigs. I don't bother trying to throw them on my casting combo since they're so light, works just fine with my spinning combo!

I do for hair jigs and tube jigs, both with open hooks where you don't have to really lay into hook sets. I'll probably try skipping a normal jig this summer on a spinning rod too just because I can't skip a baitcaster.

My spinning rods get used for dropshotting, throwing a flick shake, and a shakey head.... that's about it for me. I used to throw tubes on spinning rods, but alot of people think Lake Erie is clear water.... I have no problem catching them on 12 and 15 lb. line on a casting rod/reel....

The only time I resort to using a spinning rod is for any lure 1/8 oz or under. My two spinning rods are the least used pieces of equipment that I own...it has to be a bad day, cause I hate to use them.

Normally, I don't. If I'm fishing a small jig, like a SK Bitsy Bug, then I'll throw it on a spinning rod.

I like having more power, and more precision with a baitcaster, and reserve my spinning rods for things I can't throw on a BC.
