Need help HDS 7 GPS coordinates
Hello all I have an issue manually entering gps coordinates into my gen 1 HDS 7. The first thing I thought about was the never ending wealth of information and knowledge here. Trouble is they don't match up. The numbers are in a different configuration and I'm new to this kinda thing. The map has known permanent fish attractors and gives the coordinates. For example: fish attractor no.1 is 34* 3' 49.90" N and 81* 13' 21.22" W.
Now trouble is the units input screen only gives me for example: N 33* 22.822' and W 081* 27.913' I know that the digits will change of course but the screen only lets you highlight a character and change it by either hitting up or down on the 4 way arrow button. It wont let me add or take away characters. My hope is that someone with more experience with gps can make sense of this jargan I have typed here. Any help would be appreciated and the asterisks in the cords. are degree marks. Thanks in advance. |

Yes, your map coordinates are in degrees, min, sec, whereas your HDS unit default setting is degrees, decimal min. Change your HDS unit coordinate system to deg, min, sec, at Menu, Menu, System, Coord. system, then manually enter the coordinates as stated from your map.
