Default bassboogieman and docirv adventures heading home from wilson

So far 2 flat tires.... one on trailer that blew out... one on truck that shredded.... no more spares and 600 miles to go.... going to need a long recovery from this trip....

12:30 I am home. 18 hours and it was pure NO FUN. Trailer tire actually seperated, tread from the side walls, and these were new tires, on the NEW trailer. Less than 1200 miles on them. Tell me again how great a product the Chinese make............... the remianing three tires will be off the trailer before it sees the road again. The trailer tire bent the fender and destroyed the marker light which I believe was the cause of the running lights going out. I cut it clear but that didn't solve the problem. Had brake, turn signals and flashers so we ran with the flashers on after dusk. The freaking right rear truck tire went flat less than a mile after changing the trailer tire on the side of I-40 about 25 miles West of Knoxville. Stopped at a gas station to put some air in the spare trailer tire as it was a tad low, and the truck tire started thumping in the lot. Changed it, added air and didn't realized the lights had suffered some damage until we hit a little rain right before dark.

For those of you counting - that's 5 flat tires in a week for me. WTF is up with that? Truth be that the rear tires probably got damaged when I delivered my scrapped trailer to the scrap yard. Two other tires on my lawn tractor fell victim to roofing nails from the new roof last fall. Then there is the Chinese trailer tire, great traller but LOUSY tires. Yep, that's five in 11 days - which is longer than a week, now that I've recounted it.

As for the gathering at Wheeler, while it was great meeting everyone the fishing really was a disappointment. Not entirely the lakes fault, I had a chance here and there, but it was far below my expectations based upon my experience at G'Ville in late March. The lakes are as different as night and day, not much similiarity in them at all, which surprised me tremendously as they are so close together.

Be that as it may, it was a great time. John & Lisa did a superb job getting it organized - but guys, dinner at 10 PM? Need to re-think that one, I didn't realize you Alabamians are such "eliteists". Hoytie Toytie y'all??? Keep the pinkie extended when sipping your 'shine. And YES John that "fish" was tasty............................ LOL, and thanks again for the hat!!!

Glad to hear you guys made it home okay despite the trouble.

The fishing was disappointing, but at least the company was great.

As for the 10PM dinner... I guess that would be our fault, lol. John texted us to come in for dinner. So as I'm sure we've all done, Daniel said one last cast. On that one last cast, we both hooked up. Although mine was another stupid trash fish, Daniel had a smallie. After a day of not doing too well, a double was enough to keep us on the lake for a few more "one last casts."

Boogie...I got a call from you last night, but no response when I picked up. Was a little worrisome, especially with doc's post, but I figured you just sat on the phone wrong or something.

Feeling a little like Odysseus?

Good to hear you made it back safe and sound, though your wallet will surely be a little lighter.

Speaking of wallets being a little lighter...thanks a lot, Irv. Any man who buys dinner for fifteen people is okay in my book...especially when I'm one of those fifteen people.

Must have been by accident Bryce, sorry. I was too totally pizzed off to even try to hold a conversation - with ANYBODY. I have a posting up on the boat & trailer forum about the tire. http://www.bassfishin.com/bassfishin...ad.php?t=28075

Don't worry Bruce. You might not have gotten what you paid out of those tires, but you certainly got what they paid the 10-year-old Chinese sweatshop workers out of them.

Sorry, pal...couldn't resist. I can only imagine you sounding a little like me, totally furious and ranting about it.

John you have no idea of the door you have just opened. nor the trouble you have exposed yourself too.
Take it from someone WHO KNOWS - you just shot yourself in the foot.
