Default Second Tournament Results

Hey guys, I fished my second tournament as a coangler at the Northeast River in MD last Saturday and finished 4th out of 9 guys. My bag weighed 7.14 pounds which is pretty small for a limit, but the fishing was tough during the cold front, the air temp was 32 at launch and water temp was 47. I had to consistently knock out ice from my guides every few minutes in the morning.

The boater never once lowered his motor, he told me right when we launched he'd only be using his trolling motor and hitting the docks all day which is right next to the launch site. The bite was best during the morning, the boater landed his one and only fish, a nice 3.5 pounder and I landed a few 2-2.5 pounders and lost a few bigger ones. After a few hours around 9 as the tide was lowering, the bite completely died and throughout the whole day I only managed to catch 6 fish, the boater only caught one, although I did see him break off a 5 lb+ fish during the morning, his rod completely loaded and his fluoro snapped at the knot, bad knot tying on his part.

I caught all 6 of my fish on a drop-shot rig, throwing it next to pilings and gently working a 5 inch roboworm by lunker city for up to a minute. I lost a 3-4 pound fish in the morning on the drop-shot, I set the hook and fought him for a few seconds, but the fish somehow came unbuttoned. Throughout the day I also threw crankbaits, suspending jerkbaits, and a texas rigged devil spear by berkley on a 3/16 ounce weight. I got 3 nice hits on the devil spear but couldn't hook any of them, I think the hook was having trouble penetrating the thick cold plastic on the devil spear.

Anyways, I had a blast fishing, even though I was freezing my *** off in the morning, but I learned a lot and I feel like the next tournament I fish, I might even place in the money.

Heres the link for the tourney if you want to see some results and fish caught, props to Mike P. on his 15 pound bag despite the tough conditions.
