Default Live Target bluegil

Just got mine from online order. Very interesting the way it folds in the center and the two Trokar hooks pop out. I think this will be a winner this summer.

I have been eyeing them seriously. And I have a different retrieve in mind than anything I've read so far. I'm thinking cast it out, let it sink on it's own until 12 inches under water or so, then jerk it quickly back to the surface and let it sit, just like a dying bluegill behaves.

Basically, it's the same style lure as the "Snagproof" line. Soft, hollow plastic body with the double hook and weight.
Put a large bullet weight on and tick it off the bottom. It will float up from the weight, pull it back down to the weight without moving the weight. Mimics a Bluegill feeding off the bottom, or attacking eggs in a nest.

Which color did you choose? So many of them look good.

Just what I need...to get sucked into buying a $13 lure that I can feed to a pike on my first cast!

Or I guess $15 if you are Cabela's...ugh.

Ok next time you go swimming dive deep in the pool and look up at any lure and tell me if color really matters all that much. If it is swimming below the surface yes color does matter. In this case color is the lure to the buyer and not to the fish.

But I digress I choose bluegill and the really bright looking bluegill.

I picked up one today along with other things at BPS. I chose the 3 1/2 Natural Blue Pumpkinseed. Can't wait to try this baby out. Perfect size and checking it out, it looks like it would be hard not to make solid contact with the hook on this body the way it is made.

Dave Mercer did a show today featuring the sunfish. He was whacking them good fishing lilly pads. It was fall when there is a die off of pan fish but would probably work year around. Fished with a jerk/pause action and it did mimic a struggling fish very well. I'll have to get a couple for the Potomac as snakehead should hammer that lure, as well as bass.

Lucky for me I got 5 free ones from a guy who is on the staff for Live Target, good guy, as long as I take pictures with the lure in the bass mouth I will get a few.

Will do, when the weather breaks, and no more snow.
