Questions Regarding My Aluminum Bass Tracker
Hi,
I was wondering what you guys recommended for a carpet cleaner. Also I was wondering what I could put on the aluminum to make it shine. Thanks. Carl |

If you're going to polish the hull to a shine, you can wet sand the bare aluminum hull with progressively finer grits of sandpaper, the final step would be a wet sanding with 600 grit paper. You can check online to various Aluminum polishing sites - you can try Vintage Airstream trailers, Vintage Military Aircraft, and the Eastwood Automotive websites, they provide an array of polish selections and tools.
Best method after the sanding is to use an orbital buffer, tons of Mother's Premium Aluminum polish (in the black and white small tub), and many many soft cotton rags. No secret that the more times that you repeat the buffing process, the smoother and nicer the shine. It is a dirty job as the oxidation from the Aluminum results in a black grease-like substance that will not wash out of the rags, gets on your clothes and skin, and hours of the buffer whine will drive the wife crazy. If you go this route, you should redo the buffing process every spring, and in the fall when you put the boat away. There are other products that coat the polished finish to slow down the oxidation of the shine - try ZOOPS from Eastwood. zooker
