Batemate Scents

I picked up some batemate classic ultra bass fish attractant just for fun can anyone tell me if it works or not before I spray it on some works and ruin them thanks yall

x2. Definitely use it on some soft plastics before anything else.

I've only used a few scents because I really don't think they do THAT much. But it's a confidence thing so if you think they'll catch you more, they probably will. Anyways, the baitmate scents seemed to be the most productive of the couple I've tried.

Be sure to put the scent into the baggie of lures rather than over the side of the boat individually. I'd take out all the soft plastics except for 3 or 4 to try first.

Here's my homemade scent I've had success with.......two cups hot tapwater, a heaping tablespoon of garlic powder and a half teaspoon sea salt......mix well and pour some into each baggie of soft plastics.....mush about and reseal, then float the baggie in a bucket or sink full of hot tapwater for a half hour......take outside and drain off the extra liquids and once again, reseal. Rather than floating on hot water, you can also put the baggies in the sun for an hour or so before draining. After draining, you will have wet lures with little bits of garlic still in the pack. The moisture dissapears in a day or so.

Like Macs idea... but how do you mask YOUR smell on the bait after you have handled it putting it on the hook?

My kids play with my soft plastics ALL the time. I still fish them (or I'd be out of money). IMHO, human "scent" plays no role in whether or not a fish will hit or eat a bait. On the other hand, if you think it matters...it probably does.

Good point Cam.

FF I use it from time to time. My buddy is a big believer on it, but we tend to catch about head to head. He adds Neece (? I think that is the name) Oil that he buys at a pharmacy and adds to it. He says it helps cling to the bait better and stays on longer.

i believe you are talking about anise oil??? and a lot of manufacturers put this on their soft plastics from the factory.

My take on scents is the slower you are working the bait and the more finicky the fish are, the more likely scent is going to help. I like to deadstick my baits when i use scents and i only use craw scents.... just my take... i know it is more of a confidence thing (especially since smell is not a basses primary way of hunting like say a catfish)... but i like to do it... my favorite is pro-cure

Baitmate is a good attractant just dont spill it on your boat carpet, I have this friend...... well, i had this friend.

That's funny, my daughter loves to take my soft plastics out and play with them all over the house. I have caught a couple of dozen fish on them since she first started doing it.

I like using the original Fish Formula attractant, but what I do is add some to a ziplock bag and then let my plastics marinate in the stuff........What i've found is that the scent stays with the baits alot longer then just sprayin some on occasionally.

Thats what ive been doing but I put a red worm in the bag and the colors ran like crazy

It would seem that some plastics are worse about bleeding their colors then others, and red seems to bleed the worst from my experience.
