Default Basspro RCX Baitcasters

Anyone have any experience with these? On sale $70.

Want to use one for frog/jig fishing.

What speed? I have a 6:1 BPS Pro Qualifier I'll use for cranks, spinnerbaits and heavy cover worms.

They are very similar to a pro qualifier. Most of the parts are the same or nearly identical. BUT, for some reason several folks that have had both prefer the PQ.

I've had two of these reels. Very nice reels. I still have one I use for a crankbait reel.$70.00 is a good price for that reel. I would go with a 6.4:1 ratio for a froggin reel. I know some guys are going to pick a 7:1 for frogging, but I've never felt any need for a super high speed ratio. The 6.4:1 is plenty fast IMHO.

I have 4 and prefer them over the PQ (I have 2) and the extreme (I have 5). Their a good reel for the money. For gen purpose 6.4:1 is fine. Use 5.2:1 for deep cranks, and a 7:1 for anything you need to burn or keep on top of the water. 7:1 is good for frogs (horny toad) and pitching jigs (because fish have a tendency to swim at the boat), buzzbaits and spinner baits too. 6:4 is fine for whatever also. Fishing a frog fast on top all day in a tourney, your gonna want a 7:1. For rec fishing a 6:4 will be fine and more versitile. All depends on what YOU like.

I haven't used the new RCX reels, but my dad has one of the Blue ones. I like my PQ much better.
