Oh, one more item. After catching a "good" fish with a crankbait, put a small dot on the belly and take the bait off. Makes it a good bait for tournaments.
If you keep using it you may loose it, been there done that.

Hey PnJ-when you pick one up does it look like the ball of Christmas lights in National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation ? If so, been there and done that-many times!

I'm like a lot of y'all-I have several hundred cranks, but it seems like I only throw a few different ones.

It's my home lake(s) (I'm 5 minutes from Barton's Creek), I spend all my time there, pretty much, so the odds are higher for me Plus, I like to chunk them into everything, if I lose one, I just come home and paint another, I try not to get too upset over it

You live out towards Charlotte? I've always meant to head that way and catch some fish....then the gas got high! We did make a trip down east a few years ago, fished mattamuskeet for a few days, then moved to the Chowan, and started catching some fish! Moved from there back home and spent about 3 days on the Eno

dam
i fished an area today that was less than 6 miles long-flat swamp- on high rock lake. this area with it's very good struture that is quite close to the ramp would suit your group well. the rip rap around hwy 8 bridge is less than 100 yards from the launch and docks above that go for a couple of miles..

flat swamp -the upper part -is about 200 yards wide.at the brown loftin bridge-hwy 8- it gets narrower the farther you go up..

You're gonna talk us into going up there next season! We've always talked about it, but have never been, especially since the gas got so stinking high. With it coming down, I'm gonna definately bring that up for a vote, heh heh, I've got an inside line on the area

I've lost my share of cranks on Falls as well.
May they never hold a top six there again. Sorry for those that may have done well. The fishing was not good. Too much pressure the week of the event.
Highrock would be a good choice with 15,500 acres. "I" think that it would be a good lake.
Zook, they are extra baits. These baits are the same that I'm already using, they are good baits that will catch fish.
All crankbaits aren't the same, but you already know this.

When carving crankbaits , do you carve the image your looking for, or do you carve away everything that doesn't fit the image your trying to make ? P N J

I carve the image I am looking for. Before i start a bait i make sure i know exactly what i want, where everything will be, then i start. I gotta make a template to make sure i can carve th right parts. If i carved away what i wasnt looking for I'd have an uneven, most likely unbalanced bait. Carving baits is great... It's the painting that is trouble to me.

hell right now that can be any where.. last weekend on a crank i caught bass in 4"-thats INCHES- of water and 12 feet of water.. imo i use 2 rods one with a shallow diver and one with a bait that will get down to 8 feet or so.-for me i can do this with a dt-6 if i wanted to..but do not be afraid to throw a deep diver in shallow water.. the norman deep lil n has been very good to me this year in shallow water..

49er look at my highrock lake post pictures that is the color i would recomend on high rock from may on basicly.. early in the year i fish a differant lake.

1. i am terrible at painting. i could easily try though
2. the glass container on my airbrush fell out and shattered while working on a bait about a week ago. gotta buy a new one

But when i can I'll whip something up for ya. With school its getting hard to do luremaking but i have been doing some
