Well going to the lake house this weekend. Bean getting some good reports. Taking the thumbless father In Law with me. I've got reports the fish are plain crazy below the dam. Catfish caught on lures average weight has bean about 20lbs. White bass & hybrids Are going crazy. Well i'm ready. My 2 lures of choice to start out are. The sassy shad. I have 1 mounted on a 1oz jig. All the gates are open so i'm bringing some 5 incheers mounted on a 2 1/2 oz jig as well. Baught some Bomber slab spoons at Bps. Chartruse & white are my colors. I am rigging a 6 to 8 inch leader on the back of them. On the leader i'm mounting Clouser minnow flys. I did this last year with some success. The white bass love the flys.

Well it was hienz 57 fishing!!! The intended target was white bass. But Cappie hit most of small stuff that i threw. Did keep all the legal keepers. Saw catfish being caught on swimbaits. I baught some homemade swimbait bodies at the local tackle shop. These were hand poured. I really liked the shape. Had 3 blues cat off the swimbait. Chartruse body with an orange head. I liked them so much. That i went an baught every one they had in every color. Floated down river. Fished for bass in the back coves. Nothing to write home to mom about. Water was still alittle cold. But it will get much better. This is a good sign of things to come. I saw allot of snaggers. I saw some big big spoonbill being caught. I will be back next year for snagging season. There was a 58 lb spoonbill being weighed at the tackle shop.
