the rebel pop R is a top water lure, you throw it out, let the circles settle on the water from the lure hitting the water, then raise your rod tip back and forth a few times, making the lure move, spit, and go from side to side. You can move it a foot or so and stop, or move it live that all the way back to you.

You can throw it parallel to the bank, like 5-20 ft from the edge and work it back to you, or make short casts either from the bank to the middle, or from the boat to the bank and work it back. Some days they want it fast, non stop, other days they want the stop and go method.

In a lake (or pond) that is only 12 feet deep, you will pull fish up to the surface from the deepest part of the lake. You can throw that Pop R anywhere in there.

Just to add to JB's post there are a couple techniques you can try.
1) Pop it and make it spit forward, spraying water out in front of the bait.
2) Pop it and it will make a loud "ploop" sound (that's the closest sound I can think of) but not spit.

Both of these you can let it rest after or move it along at a varied pace.

3) Pop it and make it walk back and forth making a gurgle.

I think the last one takes the most work to learn to do it well. The side to side motion keeps the bait in the same area longer vs using the same pace pop and pull method (I hope that makes sense).

Throw it as jb and 3d said. And then let the ripples settle, then pop-pop------------pop, pop-pop--------------pop, pop-pop ----------------pop. Two pops hesitate, then a single pop. I pop a large 6 to 8in bubble putting out a good spray, I also use a feather on the tail treb, and I usually get hit between the second and third pop more so than not. Do this repetitive. Good luck.
