Is this place private?

I've introduced myself here before, so I'm not new. In fact, I check in here everyday. I posted a thread titled "What combo to buy?", and there hasn't been a single response to it. I thought you guys were here to share and help each other.

Is the sharing and helping only amoung a few "regulars", and newcomers are not welcome? I thought I followed proper etiquette the first time I visited by introducing myself. If that wasn't it, could you please give me the "secret password" or "handshake", so I could join in too? Thanks!

No handshake, no password. From past experience most unregistered guests are hear to cause hate and discontent and stir up crap. A lot of the members here stopped replying to unregistered people because of this. Like reb said, join, it's free. Also read on there are a few recent threads concerning your exact question.

No wonder I didn't get a reply. I "thought" I had registered. My BIG mISTAKE. Thanks for not blasting me! I'm registered under GOV, and I live in SC. You guys seem tyo be a greta bunch. Dang it Rebbasser, I think it would be cheaper if there were a fee of some sort for a restaining order against the bait monkey. Gov, Welcome, exact;y what were you looking for in a combo, you must have had an idea. I don't know squat about spinning gear except, buy a larger size spool like a 2500 or a 4000 model. keep the line 1/8 th of a inch down from completely filling the spool and a front drag system works alot better than a rear drag system.Now baitcasters are something I really like to mess with so if you have a baitcaster in mind I can give you the good and bads of the reel , but you will have to choose what you want and how much you are looking to spend. I'm looking for a baitcaster reel. I already have spinning reels. I've never used one before, so I want to try the baitcaster for a different feel. I have about $100 to spend on the combo.
