Fly fishing for Bass.
I love to fly fish for bass. Poppers or wet flys like Buggers or streamers, doesn't matter. Nothing is funner than fly fishing out of a float tube with a 2 wt. and a popper or a Bugger. I tournament fish with my "gear" out of my bass boat too and I love that but there's something special about a bass on the fly. Anyone else out there in cyberspace doing it? Anyone that would like to????? What are your experiences??????

I have guided for 16 years fly fishing for LGMouth and nothing beats a big Waldorf hair bug getting rushed and blasted in 4 inches of water by a 4 lb LGMouth.
Or of the art of pad fishing with fly and hearing the strike and only seeing the ripples and shake of the pads. Or the thrill of a feeder creek running fast thru a one foot channel and the fly landing dead center. And at that very moment the LGMouth leaps from the edge to do a downward smash and grab on the Waldorf hair bug. Kinda like that? Capt Mike

Fly fishing for any species is truly the sport of angling distilled to it's most essential elements. I love it.

i have to agree with everyone else as well. i have fly fished all my life it seems. my father taught me when i was a kid and i have 3 fly rods now. not the best 5 or 7 split cane rods. that is on my wish list, lol. but i still have alot of fun fly fishing. you never know if you're gonna get a 2 or 10 lbr. i have lost some monsters cause of a thin leader line. but the fight was like catching a swordfish. mna.... i can't wait till spring. but i have no choice do i? lol.

christopherkeene9 if you ever get a 8 pound bass on a top water fly bug. and you start fighting it. and then go out and catch a swordfish, now grant it it may not take you 45 mins to an hour to bring in the bass, it is very similer. the fight is what i am talking about mostly. you have to really wear down the bass just like any other large fish. and yes i have been in the gulf waters too. we lived 30 north of gulf shores for 17 years. my wife is a native of mobile.

I dunno, still wouldn't say it's that exciting. It's exciting and all, don't get me wrong, but after rigging squid, setting lines, etc. etc. I find that more exciting!

Spiffy rod!
I gave it a try a few times and loved it. Not as much as bass tough, so I never really bought all the equipment... -Lunk-

I'm talking wadin in the summer, the water gets around 75 or 80. I fish creeks and rivers from the flint on over. Great smallmouth.
But yea, when I get up there we will go in the boat. Maybe the mayfly hatch if I can work it.
