tipped spinnerbaits
Do you think it is a good idea to tip spinnerbaits with a grub or worm or pork frog.

That's one of those "only one way to find out" questions. Can't hurt to try. I rarely do, but Zooker rarely doesn't-it is also a matter of personal peference and confidence.

I usually use a curl tail grub. If you use one make sure the curl points down-that way the curl tail doesn't get tangles up with the hook.

I seen a picture of one today with a fluke on it, in a magazine. Would something like that work do you think or just throw it off balance?

I don't think it will throw it off balance and would it work? See my first post on this thread-the part between the " " .

Yep-try it and see what happens . You may discover it is a real fish catcher.

I use pork rind on my spinnerbait but it's like a strip. There are no holes in it, so it's really a b#$%@ to add to the hook also I split it to within an inch or two from the hook. Works really great.

I always use a twistertail plastic grub on mine unless I want the bait to run deeper. In that case I don't use a trailer. Also, I have found that a contrasting color used for the trailer works better for me. In this case, white spinnerbaits with chartruese trailers.

I used the grub on the back of the spinnerbait for years, however after getting some hart spinnerbaits, I've changed most of my spinnerbait trailers to the straight split tail (red or white).
I've noticed the pros use the split tail more than a grub. Both work fine |

I Rarely Ever Use Mine Unless It Is Murky Water. Ill Take Strands Out Of The Skirt Usually In Clear Water. I Want The Spinnerbait Too Have A Smaller Profile In Clearer Water Not A Bigger One.

i cut my skirts to the bend of the hook,so the profile is smaller and the skirt poofs out on the retreive. i dont usaully use a trailer, but i did take of the skirt of one of my spinnerbaits and attached a fluke, the profile was soooo big,i would reccomend maybe a 4'' fluke for the bit smaller profile.

If you use a trailer be sure to use a trailer hook. Your hookup ratio will increase.

i use a 4" spike it grub 99% of the time 95%of the time with OUT the trailer hook. if modified in the proper manner there is no such thing as a short striking bass.. the ONLY time i add a trailer hook is if the water is dead calm, perfectly clear, and COLD WATER.. this is possabliy the toughest time to catch a bass on a spinner bait.. zooker

I use a split tail, or a curly tail worm, on most.

when i use spinnerbaits with a trailer, i take old soft plastic swimbaits and put it on the end. makes it look like a tail. works pretty good. i also use a grub. i only do this in murky and stained water to creat vibration.

i use a trailer off and on depending on what approach im going for. when i use one it is usualy a twin tale grub, and i usually match the color. works at time's and at others it does'nt.

Zook,
I use a trailer hook when burning the bait, and for going deep, the rest is trailer-less

not needed going deep power. slow rolling in deep water-10+ feet down- areas means the same as fishing stained water.. they can't really see a whole lot..as light is difused thru the water.
3 things needed in gin clear water for a blade to function well. wind-which makes waves-,shade -darkins the water- and depth.. zooker
