Asking For A Favor - Pt. 2
Hey guys... just wanted to ask and see if you guys could do me a quick favor and help me test something real quick.
I have a test dummy file that is 100mb on the server and I am interested in seeing what an average download speed is for you guys. So if you could, please download the file below (click on it and choose "Save As File..").. save it to your desktop or somewhere where you can easily delete it afterwards... and when you start downloading it, let it download and tell me what the average download speed is during the transfer. You should see something like "452 kb/sec" or "182 kb/sec"... something like that. Sometimes the transfer speed is higher when you first start it, then it kinda evens out after awhile. I'm more interested in that steady speed towards the halfway finished point. And if you also wouldn't mind telling me what kind of connection you are on... whether it be Cable connection, DSL, dialup, etc. And if you know who your ISP is (Comcast, Time Warner, etc) include that as well. I am trying to get a gauge on how quick you guys can retrieve this stuff. Just post any results here in this thread. Dummy Download File (100mb): http://www.bassfishin.com/100mbs.bin What To Post: 1) Average Download Speed 2) The speed of your Connection (ie. 8mbs Cable, or 15mbs DSL, 56k Dialup, etc) 3) Your ISP (internet provider) 4) (Optional) Your location. Much appreciation for your help! Thanks so much. Take care and good fishin' Kevin

OK Kevin, I have TC3Net(Dial-Up), and it was registering 7-9 Hours of download time, so I said "Hell with It". I was going about 3.5-4.5KB/second. I live in SE Michigan.
Hope I help you... -Lunk-

1. 3.20 KB/sec. 2. 9 Hrs 28 min. 3. People PC /modem 4. Wheeler, NY I am slower than a sloth, LOl. I am the only person with electricity, or telephone for 2 blocks, modem is all I can get here. They won't deliver a daily newspaper to my home.I have to pick it up down on the County road 3 miles from home. But in saying that, I only pay $9.95 a month to crawl around on the internet.I pay twice that for a newspaper, I have to go get.
