Oh, here is something i find interesting. In our newly built house our DRAIN pipes are frozen. The "P" traps that is. Water pipes are fine, but the traps are frozen, haha. Never had that happen before. Interesting huh?

House is on peirs. Or should i say built above ground, not on a concrete slab.

That is pretty odd.

7 degrees this morning. Snow still on the ground, but sun is out and burning bright. But we'll only hit 32 for a high. so snow will stick around for another day.

Not sure of the temp, but it's lookin' like a nice day here with blue skies and not so much as a puff of breeze

I sure miss Jet's pizza! Nothing like it around here.

I do feel bad for you southerners. Up here we are really well prepared for the cold with lots of wool clothes, -58 rated boots, etc. Down there 7 degrees can be dangerous if you are not prepared for it.

A few tips:
Don't wear cotton, wear wool. Cotton soaks up sweat and gets cold. Wool keeps you warm even when wet.

Dress in layers. Even with gloves it helps to have a thin pair on under your heavy ones and mittens work even better.

Wear polypropylene long underwear. It wicks away the moisture. I get mine from here and they are pretty cheap: www.tii.us/product4.htm

Don't leave skin exposed. Cover up your face too.

I hope that helps a little bit and y'all don't get too cold.

I dunno, but we got something MUCH better I'm sure!

And no, I won't tell you the name, than you'll come all the way down here to get some.

But I'll give you hint.. It's been on that food network show, Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives!

Edit:

We got one in Ft.Lauderdale... maybe next time we go to BPS (in Ft.L), well check 'em out!

Bama, with all of the global warming going on...you need to get down there and install some heat trace. Being from the South, you may have never heard of such a thing haha...but we live with the stuff up here.

Didn't Chris close in the bottom of the house to keep the cold wind off those P traps and pipes?

Hahaha stick. Well i went under the house to see if the drain was frozen, nope...thawed and drained. Not cracked either. so i blocked it off from the wind. It is located right where a vent in the foundation. When it gets a little warmer i am going to have to see what i can do to fix this permantly. and bob, we are heading your way tomorrow after i get off of work. Gotta cuss out 84 lumber over the front door.

And now for our weaher report.. low of 12 with wind chill of 6 or so. high tomorrow is gonna be around 30 something i think. One more night of bitter cold ( for us gang, for us bitter cold). ....then we get a HEAT wave, hahahaha. Warming up to 52 by next saturday, but alais.......RAIN. So no fishing next weekend.

We gonna be 20 tonight and 36 tomorrow. Gonna get up in the 40's Monday and Tuesday. 52 Wednsday, and a 58 Thursday. Might ought to break my shorts out.

I joke, but we got it lucky compared to those folks up north. Imagine a minus 50 windchill. Our blast freezer in the meat dept never got that cold buddy.

Just got home from a friend's smoked ham shack and my car was showing 9 degrees.
Bama, with the fact that you aren't gonna get these low tems on any kind of a regular basis, insulating it should be enough.
