Hmm, a cat as the returning of the mesiah. Interesting concept.

Bama, what we do up at our cabin in put RV antifreeze (the pink stuff) in all of our drains. It lowers the freezing point of the trapped water.

Well no snow here!

But it's cold as helk (33* wind chill 25* and it's 10:00AM) and I'ma try to go fishing again.

But TODAY, I'm dressing in layers: Wind breaker with a denim jacket over top, and some long johns with jeans on top! And two socks per foot!

That is pretty freakin cold for Florida. Last night, I left the bar and my car told me it was 9.
Just about 1/2 hour ago, I hopped in the car and it said 25. Sweet!!!!!

Last month's heat bill was $118; I figure this month's bill will be up near $200.

The forecasters, idiots though they are, are talking about temps near 40 Wednesday and Thursday this week. That'll be the first time over 25 since the week before Christmas, I think. I usually go striper fishing both days of the weekend all winter long, but the past couple weeks, the best I can manage is one morning per weekend. Can't use braid because it freezes to itself on the reel spool. And it's amazing how thick and bulky a pair of gloves you can learn to cast in if you have to.

LOL, mark our electric bill is already around $200.00. Heat wave coming this week, temps getting up to 53 by friday. Then high 40's for the weekend. Lows still around freezing.

By the way, we are total electric. No gas, just one bill to worry about.

Yeah John.. our house is total electric too. My place is heated and cooled with a Heat-Pump system, but when it gets really cold outside it uses Electric Heat and more kilowatts to heat.

I agree, I do like not having to pay a gas bill.

My house has gas heat. I only have one bill, but I can definitely tell when the ol' furnace kicks in. Last year, my January gas and electric bill was $297. I have since turned down my thermostat a couple of degrees (only so much I can do, because of the parrot), and it has helped some.

A few years ago, gas was cheaper per Btu than electric heat. Unfortunately, these days, that is far from the case.

Here is a little tip for you other gas-heat guys. I know this sounds ridiculous, but it is true. All electrical power used in your house ends up as heat. So if you "waste" electricity by leaving lights or the TV on, you are actually heating your house more cheaply than by letting your gas furnace do it.

I wish I had low bills like that. Our furnace is fairly efficient and it cost $600 to fill the fuel oil tank which lasts 4-6 weeks in this cold. The propane for the water heater which is about $100/month. Then electric to run everything else and the furnace fan... It was wonderful in the fall up here but I'm second guessing our choice to move this far north.

How high are your electric bills for A/C in the summer?

We live out in the boonies so we do not have gas running from house to house here. We either have to have electric or pay to have the big huge 1000 gallon tank installed. We opted for the gas heat when we moved in to the new house and it was a big improvement over electric heat. Not price wise. I am not even going to post the price of getting that tank refueled from 0psi. Our Furnace and water heater runs off of the gas along with the fireplace which is not installed at the moment.

I just thought I'd share our 7 day.

Reckon it looks like a heat wave to some of you. Thurs. & Fri. is sure going to feel like one. Might have to go skinny dipping.

Weather like that would usually mean going fishing for me, but classes start back up on Thursday.

Highs of about 29 all this week, lows between 6-9.

Of course, that's in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, where we are for our ski trip.

Did I mention that we're on a ski trip in Colorado?

Daniel has been doing some bragging lately. Who am I kidding.. I probably would be too.

Relief is in site though; for the first time this year the temps here will be above freezing. It's about FREAKIN' TIME!
