I need a rod.

Hello, GSM2 here and I need help with a flipping rod. I am looking at, Shimano Crucial, Kistler $179.00(it's a flipping stick can't remember model), Fenwick Techna AV and G Loomis but only as a last resort. I am out to sea now and don't have the luxury of getting that tell, tell feel. So I am asking you for your experience, not only with performance but with customer service and with what reel model and line size/type did you use? I am attracted to the Kistler but could I save twenty bucks and get the same from the crucial? Never tried a Fenwick product and on my pay the $300.00 Gloomis will probably send the wife into convulsions. I have heard of a rod company called Laminglas? I haven't had any experience with them either. Thanks in advance.

lamiglass are hard to find here but look ok for the money give me a fenwick any day..

if you want a flipping stick i prefure the hmx line of fenwick rods..the techna av has a very fast tip.. both get excellent feel..

ask 10 guys what there favorite rod is and you likely to get 7 differant answers..

i am guessin thats gunners mate -second class- my grand father had that rank on the MO..

Gas Turbine Systems Tech Mechanical. Thanks for the reply. I have enjoyed the Crucial line and wanted to try something outside of it. I have a G-Loomis s/b rod and really love it. I can admit that before it I caught fish on a s/b but none on colorado blades until I got it. I will give fenwick a notion once I get back to solid ground. Thanks.

get the rod that you like the best. each rod feels differant to differant people,plus you are the one that will be fishing with it,. presonally i would get a bass pro shops johny morris rod. those things are VERY light and sensative,plus they are on sale for $120 right now. welcome to the forum!

I don't flip/pitch much, but I have a Fenwick Techna AV that I like-solid but not too heavy. Flyrod, another member here, uses a Kistler. Either one is a good rod. My suggestion is once you get back on land is go someplace that carries them and handle a few and see which one feels right.

the reason i like bass pro shops rods is the power handle,it gives me alot more leverage than a regular handled rod.

Skeeter, I'm just the opposite-I hate the hump handle BPS rods have. That's why I always say use what works for YOU, not somebody else.

I just bought a Kistler Magnesium TS all day flippin stick and paired it with a Pflueger Summit 7:1 ratio and spooled it up with Power Pro. I love this combo, for the money it is really light and sensitive.
The Diawa Light and Tough is another under rated flppin stick.

I dont' have a link to redbone rods at this time. However I do know that it is a red fish/ bone fish rod and the money they get from selling them goes to the M.S. foundation for research. I have two and will list the weight when I return, but my med/heavy paired with a diawa Adv 153 and stren 65# braid is great for frogs to flipping. I can tell you the basses daddy's uncles name when I have a tungsten weight on it..
