Texas rigged worms!

I think most on here started with texas rigged plastics, and many on here use a variety of plastics to get the job done...many types of hooks are prefered to by the masses here.
I about always use a 3/16 lead with a 3/0 offset gammy hook on most of my plastics.

They were my first and favorite bait years ago, but I have seriously gone off them, which this year I made a vow to change lol. They can really catch fish.

they used to be my favorite bait,but now thats a spinnerbait. i still use them alot though,especially on a texas rig and carolina rig.i like a 1/4 ounce weight and a 2/0 or 3/0 mustad ultra point. with my carolina rigs,i like a 25'' leader and a 3/8 ounce weight. i fish these with 17lb fluorocarbon and a 6'6''mh and 6'6''h action graphite baitcaster rods. the soft plastics i use consist of zoom u-tails,berkely power worms,tiki sticks,super flukes,zoom trick worms,big 10'' bass pro shops worms,6'' offbrand lizards,p-craws.

TEXAS rig.... # 1 method used on just about all my fishing trips....if not t-rigged, then a close adaptation there of. But, I prefer NOT to peg my weight. I feel this approach gives you the C-rig benefit on a non leader presentation.

i usually take about 8 rods/reels per trip and one is ALWAYS, 100% of the time rigged up with a 3/0 or 4/0 wide gap worm hook and a screw in bullet sinker. Its just a very versatile bait. I use it normally and i use it throwing in to moss mats when I get a blow up.

Hmm odd The T-rig isnt exactly great for me. I never seem to get a hookset on one. I have had bites but they all throw the hook after a few seconds. I'd rather wacky

Cranky you either aren't 1)setting the hook hard enough
2) rigging it well enough try texposing the hook 3) using cheap dull hooks 4) or using mono with a wimpy rod.

As Rebasser said, never ever ever leave home without it, much better than American Express for catching bass I prefer a lighter weight pegged if fishing wood, rocks, minimal vegetation, but a heavier weight, also pegged when throwing into the jungle, gotta get through the stuff to get to the fish.

2. most likely the proble... i havent been using widegaps, maybe I'll try
3. Gammies arent cheap or dull
4. I do use 10 lb Cajun mono, but i dont think the Avid is a wimpy rod... even though its Medium.

That is my #1 bait. You can catch bass virtually anywhere theres water with a black t-rigged 4'worm.

1 )HOOKSETS ARE ALL IN THE WRIST AND YOU SHOULDN'T FALL BACKWARDS.TAKE UP THE SLACK AND POINT THE ROD DOWN.WHEN ALL THE SLACK IS OUT A QUICK UPWARD SNAP WITH THE WRISTS WILL DRIVE THE HOOK HOME.

4)i would go up to 14 lb on a baitcaster with mh action.still 10lb cajun red on a medium rod should set the hook.

Oh haha my hooksets are like leaning back. I see some guys on the tour doing it... sorta like lean back and flick the wrist. and about the hooks, The shipping would make them about the same price as gammy wouldn't it? I'll probably order some with my next order of bearpaw's baits, because he sells them. May as well add them onto my order. I don't have a baitcaster, don't plan on it anytime soon, but will be getting a MH someitme in spring.

just make sure you get all your slack out and then pop him!!! bearpaw knows they are great hooks also.

Yeah slack is a problem for me. I fish mostly wacky rigs, and let them sink, So I never really know when they hit bottom. I do reel in a bit of slack, but don't know how much time I have before the lure gets spit. So usually I just do a reeling hookset. Even worse, I had the trigger model cardinal. It had antireverse but would turn a bit till the triggger gt to the rod before it started antireverse.

Cranky, gotta keep the line tight dude. It's hard, but I'll bet you get more bites than you even know about. Might wanna try braid, no stretch, so you'll feel it all.

Braid is what I use for t-rigginmg most of the time. With a heavy enough sinker, you can fell b the bottom composition, everything!

cranky, try this.
When you wacky rig, most times you are using a senko style bait, or if you are lucky, an uncle sinko haha, but usually weightless.
Try carolina rigging a wacky rig. that way you have enough weight to feel the bottom, and keep the line tight, yet you arent affecting the action of the bait much by it staying on the bottom no stop. I usually use about a 2-3 foot leader if im wacky rigging a stick bait.

Ya have to watch your line as the lure sinks cranky. Carefully watch the line go underwater as the lure sinks. It will eventually stop, thats a good time to reel in the little bit of slack, and keep in contact with the bottom.

watching line... such a pain. A thin thread, and even a tiny bit of slack, or a breeze could thow me off. In A C-rig, you use a sinker and bead about 18 inches up, right? I do try to watch for when line stopd sinking, but for some reason it never seems to end. I know the pond is shallow, the line should stop sinking much faster than it does

PS- MMIB, remember to let me know when and if you get the 4 inch mold.

4 inch what? grub? I may be returning the only grub mold i have , wich is the 3 incher. its way too hard to pour, and worth a good chunk of money.

bigger grubs do take quiet a bit of plastic, its a bigger profile round body, at least the kalins grubs I use are..
everyone should have a 4 or 5 inch smoke kralins grub in their arsenal IMO,
its just as easy as throwing a crankbait, and so much more versatile.
