it depends... for spinning i use sufix elite, and for casting i use Berkley MAXX or big game. Spinning is 6-8 pound, and casting is 12-17 pound test.

my opinion........maxxima is probably the strongest mono there is, if not the strongest it's atleast one of the strongest. problem is it is pretty stiff and can be hard to deal with. suffix seige or elite either one is probably one of the best casting lines out there. suffix is a great line but doesn't have the strengh that maxxima has. my favorite is p-line because it has a little of both qualities. very strong stuff and cast really well.

I´ve fished with lots of brands throughout the years and still, Trilene Big Game is my favorite above all, follwed by Trilene XL and XT.

My top monos are:
For all around use, Sufix Siege. The way that sufix resists memory is simply amazing. For Little to no cover, my UL line is Trilene XL. This line can fool 'em almost as good as fluoro. For absolute abrasion resistance, I would say it is tought to beat Spiderwire or Pline CXX. However, their abrasion resistance, while a great trait if needed, make for a very thick line and slightly wiry feel. I've yanked sunken tree trunks (large ones) with 10# Spiderwire and Big Game.

Cajun Red is my favorite. The red line can't be scene at all in muddy water. For the money it's got some strong abrasion strength. Saying all that this my first season using it on all my reels. My question now is due i stick to what works for me. Or do i test somthing else.

Stren. Original is great, but the Super Knot is probably my new favorite. Suffix mono's are good as well.

After experimenting the past couple years with various lines I have to say when it comes to mono lines I am going back to my old favorites. I've yet to find any of the newer lines that I like as well. My preferences are Trilene XL green, and Bagley Super Silver Thread as well as the Silver Thread Excaliber. I also am very fond of Trilenes Sensation line. I will have to add to BigBassins comment. I had not used Stren Original for probably 25 years. Never liked it. However this spring I did buy a spool because Wally World was out of every line I wanted that day. I must say I was very suprised with the newer Stren Original. It's a MUCH improved line over the old Stren I used 30 years ago.

Lately I've been using
Bass Pro's Excel line.....little stretch and pretty good abrasion resistance. 9 bucks gets 1500 yards. |

I have used many brands and have found one that is by far the best . . . McCoy's Mean Green. The stuff is awesome. Low memory, very resistant to abrasion, and super strong. If you can find it, try it. You won't be disappointed.
