Default Wanting to purchase a Fish Finder, Need Advice

I'm purchasing a 2012 24' Sun Tracker Fishing Barge at the end of February and I would like to put a nice Fish Finder / GPS on it.

What is the best FF/GPS for the $$ I don't want to go WAY overboard, I'm thinking around the 700-800 Range

Thanks in Advance

$800 will buy any number of nice units. I have owned several brands over the years and have settled on Hbirds. IMO- Their customer service is much better than Lowrance, their screens are more readable and they seem to be just a step ahead of Lowrance in general.

Even the new Lowrance w/the new structure mapping? For $800 you could get a nice HBw/the side imaging, 798ci SI?

The only Lowrance that'll fit in the budget is a HDS 5. I'd have to go with the 788 ci HD DI combo, but agree that for a measly 200 more SI capability is nice and ina few months Mumpy might wish he had the 798...maybe not? I haven't studied the structure mapping feature enough to say one way or another...but definately a budget buster.

BTW Do you know where the 798 is avail. for 800?

After looking at all of my options, I think 788 ci HD DI combo is the way to go. Thank you guys once again for helping me make an Educated Decision!!!!

Man this Pontoon Boat is going to be freaking awesome!
I'm putting the Minn-Kota 80# Thrust Trolling Motor on it with iPilot, Can't freaking wait!
