braid on micro guides
so when i went to get my crankin rod, I stopped in at gander, and low and behold the had there carrot stix on sell, i got the 7'3 up to 7/8 weight, another pitchin rod as this is slowly becoming my fav thing to do, any way line it with 50 lb, and when i go to reel the jig up, it makes a slight grinding sound, you know the braid sound, anyway, the carrot i got was the PG, and toward the end you know the guides get like mirco, the braid is not slowly sawing the line guide is it, maybe i am paranoid, but i dont want to kill my carrot

Does this carrot stick still have the metal looking inserts on all but the tip??? If so I wouldn't use braid on it because those guides won't hold up to braid long.

The easiest way I know of to check and see if the ring in a guide is damaged is to run a Q-Tip around the inside of the ring, if cotton snags on the ring then it's damaged.
I don't have any experience with Carrot Stix so I can't help you at all with your rod.

The newer model Carrot's guides shoud stand up to braid without issues. Braid is noisy on just about any guide insert and the cutting issues is most problematic on much lesser rods with economy guides.

hey TN, not sure what you are talking about, they are all black, and i have pitched it about 20 mins today, doubt that it would have time to do any damage, but will check it afer a few trips, Boogieman, i honestly dont know if it is a new modal, all know it is the pg. just if hell breaks loose, i heard e21 service is a #####, will that be covered in the warrenty since it kinda is there fault. i know braid is noisey but cant hear it as much on my frog rod or balistic rod. always wanted this carrot, did have a few other models and eventually sold them all but a spinning, it has held up fine but use to catch dinks, well the only hit that rod lol. maybe just paranoid

If your rod has black rings, it's probably safe for braid. I think the steel guides are shiny stainless.

Wally I picked one of those Pro Guide carrots recently. It's the 7ft med med casting with the micro guides. I matched it with a Citica 200E and I'm going to use if for shallow cranks. It balances almost perfectly. Haven't tried mine out yet. Glad you like yours.

No you should be ok with zirconium inserts.
The reason the braid is making so much noise is because it's braid and because the guides are small... you could probably put mono or flouro on there and it still be noisy... not as much as the braid but still noisier than regular guides.
