Default Want to buy a new bait casting reel

Anyone know about the Team Daiwa Viento with the Twitchin Bar. Had one in my hand at the sport shop. Seemed pretty sturdy but will it be that advantages when twitchin. Price is not to bad, one model $100 the other $130 or so.

It is a good reel. Not a bad price, either. Lancer6 has one and uses it quite a bit.

I've got the Viento and I love mine. At first you may wonder what to use the twitchin bar for, but once you find something it is great for, you'll love it. I love mine for twitching t-rigged senkos.

I recently got a decent deal on a Viento, so I thought I would give it a try. I'm still waiting to hit the water with it, but it feels like a very solid reel, despite being a hunk of junk Daiwa (sorry...that's for Anthony )

But seriously, I think it's a nice reel, and the twitchin bar has me twitching with anticipation of the first finicky bass I trick with it.

Unless you're using the reel strictly for plastic wormin' and jigs, I wouldn't go with it.

I honestly think that the Twitchin' bar would just get in the way if I weren't ONLY fishing w/ Jigs n Worms.

In that same price range you can get the Johnny Morris signature series reel, which is a fantastic reel, slashed down from about $180 to $120. It is at the top of my wishlist. Also, you can get a Citica for the same price. Very good reel.

BOTTOM LINE :

If you're wanting a reel to use ONLY for jigs and plastic worms, go ahead and purchase the Viento.

If you're wanting a reel for a lot of different techniques, or for something different than Worms n Jigs, go with one of the J.M. signature reels or a Citica.

Charlie, I was actually concerned with the twitchin bar getting in the way myself when I got my Viento. Surprisingly, once you've used it on a few fishing trips, you don't even notice the twitchin bar unless you're using it. I've fished my Viento with t-rigs, c-rigs, senkos, spinnerbaits, pitching chigger craws, jigs, lipless cranks, and even normal cranks once.

I own all three of those reels you mentioned, and I've found the Viento and JM signature to outperform the Citica. It's supposed to be almost 40 degrees today, so I'm going to go out and test all three of these reels in the snow. I'll post my results later today.

Before you buy it search it on Google and read some reviews! I have heard that the twtchin bar gives some people problems. I reccomend buying the BPS Pro Qualifier. It is a great reel and only costs $100
