Default Canoe Motor Mount

Instead of buying this @ $129.99
https://crab.secure-host.com/extrasp...0&section_id=4

I made my own for less than $15.00, some engineering brain power, and a little handy work.

Default Nice Job!

Looks like a winner to me!
It always feels better to do it yourself for next to nothing cost wise, that fork over big bucks at a retail outlet

Nice, I had a Coleman Scanoe once, solved that problem nicely.

I've got some recessed cupholders I installed in my boat, I had to track them down to some unknown spot on the web, and buy a minumim order, but they work well. Unless you were wiling to drill a hole in a seat, I don't think they would work for you though, but a car window one might work hung over the side, just use screw-top drinks

Well gonna have to wait on the rod storage and drink holders.

The cart broke today, had to have Dad drive the truck over. And I have had a leak but just found the area this afternoon and its getting bigger.

As for screw-top drinks I hate bottles and crap in my feet. I have found some recessed ones at our local West Marine for $5-7 just gonna have to make a mod. somewhere to make 'em work.

Been thinking too, I'm gonna start looking for a Jon Boat as another project (getting bored with the canoe as I am almost done).

D'oh

The second hole has been fixed (temp.) but the 1st fix didn't hold, probably gonna have to gel coat it!

Still gonna go fishing tomorrow though

Hey Chris....

Look into a product made by 3M called Premium Marine Body Filler. Its the best product on the market (I make composite test equipment for jets). A buddy of mine uses this stuff to repair his race jetski's.

Its a vinyl ester based product that is safe above or below the water line.

If you need something cheaper you can always try Gorilla Hair (green bondo) backed by a few layers of fiberglass (the cheap home depot stuff). Just make sure you gel coat it. Also remember when you use gelcoat in order for it to fully cure you will need to rob it of ALL oxygen.

Either a surfacing wax will need to be mixed into it before application, or, you can cover it with a product called PVA after the gelcoat sets/drys (then wash the PVA off after about 2 hours).

By the way great idea. I plan on making a motor mount for my kayak (when I buy it). Still waiting on the roof rack.
