In need of an outboard
I have a 1994 BassCat Pantera II. I have recently blown the motor up. The oil pump went out and burned the number 4 piston. It also cracked the block at this cylinder. The motor is junked and I've searched high and low for a replacement. The motor is a Mercury Mariner 200 EFI. If anyone has any info that might be helpfull on finding one and getting me back to running would be greatly appreciated. It doesn't have to be a 200 a 150 will be just fine. I'm trying to stay away from carburated though.
Thanks |

Yeah the buzzer went off, but we were running 70 so by the time we shut down it was to late. After the alarm went off we shut down then tried to evaluate what was the problem. We fired the motor back up and it sounded like someone had a hammer in the motor knocking around. It doesn't take long to mess one up. Yeah the block is cracked so there is no way of fixing it. I've been looking on craigslist and ebay.

You want local, drive to pick up, or have shipped? I can check with a couple sources around my area.

Was in the same boat, blew mine one cyl rebuild by a local mechanic fixed the rest.
Went to Terre Haute and picked up an old xflow to get back out, while I had a 200 seldom is Ky lake calm enough to wot an allsion. The lil 140 xflow is just an intermediate solution yet got me back out and fishing, hunting for dfi or efi only makes it harder. Jacos marine below me has a 225 for about 6k 2.5 L sportmaster etc.,you can find opti pops for 3.5 and up |
