The now extinct Mg
It is official. The Shimano Chronarch Mg is now extinct. During Tackle Tour's review of the new Chronarch D, Zander inquired whether there would be a new Mg. Sadly, he reported the following:
"Because the Chronarch bears the same profile as the Core our next question to Shimano was whether or not there would be a new Mg version as that position would logically already be occupied by the Core. Jeremy Sweet, Reel Product Manager at Shimano confirmed that there would indeed no longer be a Chronarch Mg in the lineup" So join me in saying good bye to my favorite reel. I will miss you. |

If you like it keep using it. Buy as many gently used Mg's you can. Not the biggest shimano fan. But i did just the same with Lews speed spools. In my opinion even to todays standards. This lews reel has no equal. I mean here is the smoothest casting reel ever made with half the bearing of todays counter parts. Yet it will still run circles around anything else. I believe they stopped selling them because fishermen found a reel that was not easily worn out.

The Mg is on my Christmas list. I hope Mrs. Claus will get me one (or two).

I guess there aren't that many Shimano fans on this site. I truly believe that the Chronarch Mg should become a classic.

At $180 bucks it is a great deal, my favorite reel so far. I only got a few trips with the E7 Curado so I can't decide how well I like it. The Cores are just too expensive.
